FPF Trade Deadline

FPF Trade Deadline
The NFL trade deadline was yesterday, and teams weren’t waiting to shake up the landscape. We have seen a flurry of trades other the last few days. The sizzle started with the Philadelphia Eagles trading for Miami Dolphins Defensive End/Linebacker Jaelan Phillips, after the former had already added Cornerbacks Michael Carter lll, and Jaire Alexander in the days leading up.
Yesterday morning saw the Dallas Cowboys pick up Linebacker Logan Wilson from the Cincinnati Bengals. The thought of a horrible defense picking up a player who couldn’t get on the field from the only other defense that is worse than theirs makes me laugh. The Baltimore Ravens added Linebacke/Defensive Endr Dre’Mont Jones from a Tennessee Titans team that appears to be having a fire sale.
The New York Jets blew everyone out the water as they traded what many thought were two cornerstones of their team, as they traded 2-time All-Pro Cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts for two 1st round draft picks, and Wide Receiver Adonai Mitchell. They followed that up by trading 3-time Pro Bowl Defensive Tackle Quinnen Williams to the Cowboys for draft compensation and DT Mazi Smith.
Before the deadline hit, we saw some other solid trade, as the Seattle Seahawks acquired WR Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints, the Jacksonville Jaguars picked up Jakobi Meyers from the Las Vegas Raiders.
Most years the NFL trade deadline isn’t this exciting. It usually fails in comparison to the NHL, and as recently, the NBA.
In FlagPlus Football, we have tons of player movement, as players join teams and leave others every off-season. It is basically our version of free agency. Roster shuffling isn’t just limited to that time frame, as every year during the regular season we usually see a few players request a release so that they can join another squad.
Throughout all my years both playing in and writing for FPF, I have always wondered what would the league look like if we had trades? You need an upgrade in the Secondary, more speed at Receiver, a change at Quarterback, a dominant Rusher? Why not trade for one?

In this week’s article, I give you my Top 8 Tier 2 trades I would like to see this season. These hypothetical moves are in no particular order.
Before we begin, here are the rules:
Players can only be traded for if they play in either Tier I or Tier 2.
Since there are no draft picks or future considerations, players can only be traded for other players.
The players traded must be within 8 points of each other in the rating system.
Players must have played at least four games with their current teams.
Here we go:
Les Verges Folles trade Nassim Ouadhi to Hard 8 for Daniel Mancini.
This team has an upgrade at Quarterback in Jules Regimbald, who took over from Thomas-Charles Paradis. They also have speed and weapons in players like Vincent Morissette, Nicolas Prince, Philippe Mathiew, and Ouadhi, but what they lack is a legit number one Receiver who can take over games on a consistent basis.
Enter Mancini, who is arguably one of the most underrated players in FPF. The former Chateauguay Raider is a precise route-runner, has top-end speed, great hands, and a large catch radius. He would give Regimbald a legit target who can open things up for the other Receivers on the roster. As a bonus, Mancini is also a solid defender, who has covered the other teams top Receivers over the course of his FPF career. Most important of all, he provides the team with a player who can be relied on to suit up for every game, as Les Verges Folles have had to rely on a plethora of subs going back to last season.
On the surface for Hard 8, this appears to be a down grade in talent. Not so fast. Ouadhi, is an emerging talent in FPF. After an 11-touchdown campaign in the 2025 Winter Season, the veteran added five TDs in the Spring Season while playing with less than stellar QB play for most of the year. This season, he already has matched that total. With three games remaining he has a chance to add to some more. His presence on this team, would give Captain Jeff Rosenblatt another reliable pass-catcher who brings speed and size to the table.

Hard 8 trades Paul Lapierre to Camping Boutin for Serge Pilon Jr.
Hall of Famer for Hall of Famer. The trade alone is even. Despite their age, both players are still playing at an elite level.
I assume both teams are more than happy to keep the player they have, but where is the fun in that? If this trade were to ever happen, here is what it would look like for both teams.
Camping Boutin would be adding some much-needed height to their lineup. While they already have players in Marvin Renaud and Mickael Forest who appear to be over 6 feet tall, they also have key ones in Joey Notaro, and Marc-Andre Reeves, who are both well short of that mark. Adding the 6 ft 3 Lapierre would give this team a legit redzone threat, as well as someone else who can do a lot of damage over the middle of the field as a pass-catcher.
For Hard 8, while they would be giving up size in the trade, they would be getting a player in Pilon Jr, who brings speed and toughness on both sides of the ball. He is also a communicator on defense, so the team would not need to worry about positioning and disrupting the flow on defense, and he can still make plays on offense, especially in the redzone. Having him lineup with the likes of Ahmed Boubacar and Sanders Armand in the backend, would force opposing offenses to pick their poison on who to attack.

Idaho Udapimps trade Yvan Saloman to Mangoose for Mack Dessources
There are few players who are more electrifying than Saloman. Whether he is lined up at Quarterback, Receiver, or Defensive Back, Saloman uses his speed and length to take the ball way on defense, or make highlight plays on offense. Mangoose has playmakers on their team in Hakim Kasbi-Filiatrault, Thomas Coutu, Gabriel Drapeau-Zgoralski, and of course Dessources. What this team is lacking is an elite player who can take over games on both sides of the ball. They had that last year with Marvin Steinberg. Mangoose hasn’t been able to replace his production of the now departed All-Star.
Saloman, is an ascending layer in FPF, and seemingly gets better while adding a highlight play every game. Using him in the redzone, or on conversions as a second Quarterback, would help take the pressure off the team’s top QB in Nic Schaeffer, and perhaps open things up offensively for the entire unit.
You would be hard-pressed to find a player in Tier 2 that plays with the level of physicality that Mack Dessources brings to the field. Idaho Udapimps has physical players in James Nguyen, Brady O’Hanessian, and Sam Anastasopoulos , but that is it. Adding the former McGill Redbird to this roster, would give them someone who can do some of the dirty work down low. He would also give them someone to help defend the deep ball, which has at times been a problem for this team.
Both Mangosse and Idaho Udapimps need what both players offer, as each team has had their fair share of failures come playoff time. A potential trade like this could put either squad over the top.
Idaho Udapimps trades Danick Coulombe to Hard 8 for Sanders Armand.
Two guys with length, speed, and the ability to make big plays when the game is on the line. Adding another weapon for Quarterback Jeff Rosenblatt to throw bombs to is never a bad idea. This team has weapons in Mancini, Lapierre, and Adam Malinoff, but giving them Coulombe, would take what is on pace to be the lowest scoring offense in the division to new heights.
Giving Armand to Idaho Udampimps, would give them an aggressive defender who can take away a third of the field and disrupt passes over the middle. He also brings a level of physicality that is not always on display with every member of this squad. Furthermore, he gives QB Brady O’Hanessian another big body threat who can win jump balls and use his length to create separation.

KGP Origins trades Phil Cutler to Flag Slayer Corp for Ryan Kharouf and Sacha Saint-Amand.
Our first 2 for 1 trade!
Cutler is the team captain and has been the face of every iteration of KGP since the team arrived in FPF. He has seemingly played with the same cast of charters for just as long, with names like Gabe D’Amico-Mazza, James Acker, Jonathan Garfinkle, and Brendan Parm being part of the team’s foundation.
It has been a few years sine this team was considered a true contender. Perhaps a shakeup is in order. Adding a gunslinger in Kharouf comes with some risk, but also picking up Saint-Amand, could make this trade work, as he gives the team length, especially on defense that they are lacking. Perhaps playing with a group of Receivers who have chemistry and have championship experience, would help Kharouf, who arguably has the strongest arm of any Tier 2 QB, but sometimes lacks when it comes to decision-making. Just like Cutler, Kharouf, also has no problem contributing as a Defensive Back.
In trading for Culter, Flag Slayer Corp gets an upgrade at Quarterback, even though both passers have similar skill sets. The former All-Star QB would not lack weapons on his new team, as he would be throwing to the electric Nirosh Suresh, along with speed demons in Jean-Samuel Cournoyer and Karim Madji.
Idaho Udapimps trades Sam Anastasopoulos to KGP Origins for Julien Paiement.
Paiement may not be the same Rusher he was in his prime with the Braves, but the veteran can still get after the passer, as evidenced by the four sacks he has registered this year. His presence for an Idaho Udapimps’ defense that sits last in QB takedowns with three, would make a huge difference for a unit that has surrendered more points (303) than any other team.
No matter if he lines up at Receiver or Defensive Back, Anastasopoulos is gamer. He is also tough, never wants to come off the field, makes big-time plays, and has a nose for the football. Adding his youth and  play-making ability would be a plus for a veteran KGP Origins squad who has more than a few players in their late 30’s to early 40’s.
Hard 8 trades Ahmed Boubacar to Idaho Udapimps for Justin White
I am making an exception for this trade, as Justin White’s rating is criminally low, while Boubacar doesn’t play offense.
Idaho Udapimps misses the presence of Jeremy Rooney, who provided speed, length, toughness, and some swagger to their defense the last few seasons. Ahmed Boubacar isn’t as vocal as Rooney, but he brings all the other intangibles, and then some. Just as important, he leads Tier 2 in interceptions with five, and defensive touchdowns with two.
I score-kept the Idaho Udapimps game this past Monday against Flag Slayer Corp. The team had virtually no answers on defense as they allowed four of the FSC’s five receivers to average nearly 12 yards a catch. Adding Boubacar would improve the unit by leaps and bounds.
Inserting a two-way stud in White to their roster, would keep the Hard 8 defense on pace, as he has only two less INTs than Boubacar, while having four more pass deflections than the former Concordia Stinger Defensive Back.
On offense, it is no contest. As of this writing, White has posted 31 catches for 269 yards and eight TDs, while Boubacar has yet to record a catch this season.

Mangoose trades Nic Schaefer to KGP Origins for Phil Cutler
I saved the best for last. This would be the equivalent to what we saw yesterday with the Jets, as it would potentially be blow-up FPF, and be the talking point of not just the articles and podcast, but player talk throughout the league. Interesting.
Both guys have been with their respective teams for several years. While is still chasing his first championship, Cutler has not won one in several seasons. If this trade were to go through, both Quarterbacks would be throwing to veteran Receivers who know how to get open.
When looking at both players, perhaps a change of scenery could be the spark that the duo and the teams needs. This has Aaron Rodgers going to the Steelers this off-season, and Sam Darnold going to the Vikings last year, written all over it.
Will it ever happen? Probably not, but never say never.
