Tier 4: Week 5 Mayhem with Pick-Sixes, Breakouts, and Mid-Season Shifts
Hey everyone, here’s your article for Week 6. With every team getting into form at this point of the season, every game matters. This will be my last game recap for a few weeks as the next week weeks will include team reviews and looking at award considerations. Remember that for playoff eligibility, you need 5 games played or a medical note and if you don’t have your number on your jersey, the game won’t count. Before we recap the Week 5 slate, let’s go back and see how my fantasy lineup turned out.

Team Total: 121.48 (2 DNPs)
Week 5 Recap:

Sans Pression def Sour puss 36-32
A tight contest at half would lead to a victory by Sans Pression in the end with Ashwood Dorméus scoring the winning TD with under a minute to play. For Sour Puss, QB Franco Russo threw 5 TDs and 0 interceptions, spreading the ball evenly. For Sans Pression, QB Kevin Felima matched up with 6 TDs of his own and Marvin Renaud leading the group with 3 TDs himself. Great win for Sans Pression but without a convert in this game, maybe those extra points can come into importance in the future.

Rum & Coke def Bible Study 35-26
After a 9-point lead at the break, Rum & Coke were able to hold on to the victory. QB Dante Girardi threw for 251yds and 5 TDs and it was his main receivers doing the heavy lifting. Having Felix Clairmont back definitely helped as he finished with 123yds and 3TDs and Hunter Beriault is a nightmare for opposing defenses as he had 10 receptions and a TD. For Bible Study, QB Evan Vavinis had a solid game with 4 TDs and no turnovers, however, a few missed 4th down opportunities for the offence hindered a potential comeback

Brewers def First Down Snifflers 24-14
Brewers were able to keep the close first half towards their advantage for their first win of the season. QB Paolo “Peeze” Della Rocca was efficient with only 5 incompletions enroute to 4 TDs and Louis Messsier-Lavallee was his main guy with 7 receptions and 2 TDs. For First Down Snifflers, QB Mathieu Couturier didn’t score a passing TD but was able to get one with his legs. Charles-Étienne Guay would get a pick-6 early in the game, but First Down Snifflers weren’t able to build on that momentum and fall to 1-3.

Ball Hawks def Vice City 34-12
QB Richie Mondesir only needed 13 completions to have 4 TDs but would also rush for one in the win. Both Rayray Franklin and Jerome Mergenord would score 2 TDs each, propelling the offence. On defence, Ball Hawks would get 3 INTs, seemingly controlling the game from the jump. For Vice City, QB Dylan Boudreau would play his first game for the team following an injury and would throw 2 TDs but 3 INTs. It can be first game rust for him but Vice City would have a chance to turn it around against Show me your TDs the next day.

Uncle Rico’s Ryders def Brewers 53-22
Uncle Rico’s Ryder’s fire power proved to be too much for Brewers. QB Paolo “Peeze” Della Rocca struggled with keeping the ball as even though he threw 3 TDs, 2 of them caught by Alexi Dubois, having 4 INTs against a strong defence didn’t help. On the contrary, QB Mathew Yanakoulias would throw 7 TDs and 0 INTs. Peter Bakopanos and veteran Justin Lerner would score 3 TDs each and Bakopanos would add 2 INTs with one of them being a pick-6, capping an incredible all-around game.

TuneSquad def Rum & Coke 48-37
A high scoring affair with both QBs scoring at least 6 TDs would result in TuneSquad getting a much-needed win after losing their last 2. QB Garner Ross would throw 7 TDs, with Dylan Merovitz and Jake Applebaum carrying most of the offence. For Rum & Coke, QB Dante Girardi would do his best to match as he would throw 6 TDs of his own and having Matteo Gerardi having a game with 3 TDs himself. With Felix Clairmont only playing 1 game so far, his 2-way presence is clearly missed for this talented squad.

Vice City def Show me your TDs 39-33
Vice City would avenge their loss from the night before in getting a close victory over Show me your TDs. QB Dylan Boudreau would be much better as he finished with 234yds and 5 TDs. A trio top performance between, Vincent Richard, Laurent-Philippe St-Onge and Marc-Alexandre Piette would be vital for the victory. A Boudreau pass to St-Onge in the dying seconds would be the deciding factor. After a tough first few games, Show me your TDs were hanging in there with a solid performance from QB Chris Toroyan with 181yds and 4 TD passes. Alex De Luca and Mathew Antonios would play key parts in the offence with scoring a combined 3 TDs.

Sophomore XL Exchange Students def Chomedey Chodes 31-37
A 40yd TD pass caught by Ryan Vanslet on the very first play would assume the Exchange Students would make this a blowout, but Chomedey Chodes would not make it easy. QB Matthew Bottazzi would only have 5 incompletions with 4 TDs thrown and one rushing. Twin brother Jonathan Bottazzi would lead the team like usual with 8 receptions and 2 TDs. Another questionable decision by Chomedey Chodes as they wouldn’t attempt the onside after scoring a TD making it a 6-point game when it was in the dying minute. That misjudgment could’ve handed the game to the Exchange Students. For Sophomore XL, QB Vaughn Vanslet would throw 3 incompletions enroute to 4 TDs and Ryan would have 12 receptions, 176yds and 4 TDs, leading the offence keeping his squad undefeated so far.

Monstars def Airs University 38-36
It was my first time seeing QB Alexei Dikranian throwing and I was impressed with his abilities as he finished with 203yds and 4 TDs. David Collette and Duncan Cook would each have 2 TDs a piece. For Monstars, QB Charles Presser would make things difficult for Airs University with his ability to read the field with his arm and run the ball with 6 total TDs. A big 2nd half performance would allow Monstars to advance to 2-1

Ball Hawks def Bible Study 24-18
A last play TD pass from QB Richie Mondesir to Jerry Beauboeuf would be the deciding factor. On this Sunday morning, it was a heated affair, a few questionable calls and both teams would feel that they were robbed in certain instances. For Ball Hawks, even though they got the win, you can tell on the field that there were things to be ironed as there were numerous miscommunications between Mondesir and his receivers but when it mattered the most, they got the win. For Bible Study, Rocco Christiano would lead to the team with 9 targets, and it looks visible that without any subs that they were tired as a team by the end.

Richter def Chomedey Chodes 31-30
Last article I questioned who would be replacing QB Jeremy Steinberg for Richter and we got our answer as Adam Malinoff was able to get his rating adjusted to throw in Tier 4 which would elevate the offence of his team. A last-minute TD throw by Malinoff to Ryan Mayers would be the deciding factor in this close game. Nicholas Di Maulo would lead the team with 115yds and 3 TDs and I would expect him to lead the offence behind the arm of Malinoff. For Chomedey Chodes, it was another close game which didn’t go in their favor. QB Matthew Bottazzi would throw 4 TDs and rush for a TD once again. Jonathan Bottazzi would have 2 TDs, and Brock Zwicker would contribute in a big way with 57yds and a TD. With only 1 conversion made combined by both teams, the single point was the difference in Richter winning.

Glogang def Dragon Magique 21-19
A low scored contest between two similar skilled teams would have Glogang edge out Dragon Magique Sunday night. For Glogang, QB Neil Loisel would throw 3 TDs but somehow have only 64yds on 13 completions. I’m not sure if Glogang always had the ball in Dragon Magique’s territory so he couldn’t go down the field but that’s a very unusual stat line. Agostino Giagnacovo would have a TD on offence leading his team and having a sack on defense being one of the underrated rushers in this division. If he continues with flag especially as a rusher, I expect him to get calls in higher divisions. For Dragon Magique, QB Émile Bolullo would throw all 3 of his TDs to safety blanket Guillaume Boulanger in the loss. Back to the drawing board for Dragon Magique as they will play Monstars the following night.

Briscoe Hawks def Supper Troopers 25-18
Another close contest would have Briscoe Hawks prevail over Super Troopers. For Super Troopers, QB Kenny Boutilier would throw 2 TDs and Robert White would run in a TD. Zackary Alberts-Gill would add to his total rushing record with another sack in this one. For Briscoe Hawks, another efficient game from QB Alex O’Neill with 80% completion. Even with that, Briscoe Hawks couldn’t open the game but got the win, keeping their win streak growing and advancing to 4-1. Shoutout to Fabrice Agelus as he added another INT, having 4 in his last 2 games.

Monstars def Dragon Magique 26-20
Monstars would take a 14-7 lead at the break and not look back. QB Charles Presser would throw 3 TDs but also 3 INTs in the win but once again, would get a rushing TD which he has now had a rushing TD in each of the last 3 games. For Dragon Magique, QB Émile Bolullo would match his opposition with 3 TDs but also with 3 INTs. Charles Mimeault would add 2 INTs on defence. Dragon Magique would have a chance to win the game on the last play but Presser would get an INT on defence ending the game.

Flag Dealers def Dog Walkers 21-12
A battle between two teams from the bottom half would have the experienced group in Flag Dealers getting the win. QB Roy Khalil did throw 3 INTs, but his 3 TDs would be difference. On defence, Michael Haddad would end with 4 sacks, making his presence known to Dog Walkers in the win. For Dog Walkers, it was unfortunate that their defence would come up with 3 INTs but not get the win. Christopher Cassamajor would lead the team with 2 INTs. QB Even Campbell would do his best with 2 TDs but it wasn’t enough in the win. I think Campbell is their best bet as QB, but it will just take more reps for him to improve which I can see happening before the end of the season.

Reborn Prospects def Texas Whales 35-34
I feel that every close game goes in Reborn Prospects’ favor as they come up with a game winning TD in the final minute and in this game, Charles-Emile Deveault’s 3rd TD of the game would deem to be the winner. Even though Reborn Prospects would allow 34pts, they would get 3 INTs in the contest and 2 sacks from Clifdji Solon. For QB Tyler Cousins, he would throw 3 TDs but also 3 INTs in the loss. Both Elio Cariglia and Chris Goudreault would get a pick-6, changing the momentum on both occasions. With also a missed opportunity in the redzone, that could have been a difference maker for Texas Whales.

Team Ethnik def First Down Snifflers 35-14
QB Benoit Lawlor would have no problem throwing for 217yds and 5 TDs in the victory. The offence was spread as he would have 7 receivers getting at least 1 reception. On defence, they were able maintain First Down Snifflers to only 1 score per half and rusher Alain Keb would get 2 sacks in the game, showing his speed as one of the fastest rushers off the line in Tier 4. For First Down Snifflers, the offence struggled as even though QB Mathieu Couturier would have 2 TDs, going 2/7 on 4th downs gave Team Ethnik the ball on solid field position on several occasions

Reborn Prospects def Not Fast Just Furious 31-12
Reborn Prospects would have no issues controlling the game after getting the first score of the game, improving their record to 6-0. QB McRodly JeanMarie only had 3 incompletions enroute to 5 TDs and Max Philogene would have 3 of them. On defence, 2 INTs and a 5-sack performance from Charles-Emile Deveault grew the victory even larger. For Not fast Just Furious, it was a tough outing from QB William Seguin on offence. In addition, the offence would go 2/4 on redzone opportunities, leaving several points on the board.

TuneSquad def Bend Don’t Break 31-19
QB Garner Ross is continuing a solid season adding a 192yds, 85% completion and 5 TDs to his resume. Dylan Merovitz seems to be the safety blanket as a soldi receiver as he would have 8 receptions and 2 TDs. On the contrary, Bend Don’t Break had a solid outing from QB Luke Moreau as he finished with 3 TDs and 183yds but several key drops were keeping Bend Don’t Break further to catching the hot offence of TuneSquad. Dominic Weidner continues being the best receiver on this team but for this team to replicate past championship glory, he needs secondary help.

The Peckers def FC Bing 38-18
The Peckers jumped to a 26-12 lead at the break and never looked back. QB Noah Lieblein would have a 17/22 and 5 TD performance which is something that he’s accustomed with. Lewis Epstein would have 3 TDs but the ball was evenly distributed with everyone having at least 2 catches. The Peckers were able to also generate 2 INTs. For FC Bing, it was a tough outing from QB Marc-André Senécal as he would finish with 3 TDs but with also 2 INTs and not the greatest completion rate. Mohammed Boukaftane would have 2 TDs of his own and Charles Vuong would lead the team with 4 receptions. FC Bing drops to 1-4, needing to generate wins at a fast rate if they want to think about playoffs.

Week 6 Fantasy Lineup:

QB: Adam Malinoff (vs Uncle Rico’s Ryders)
WR: Dominic Weidner (vs Vice City)
WR: Dylan Merovitz (vs NoFlagsGiven)
Rusher: Thierry Levasseur (vs Texas Whales)
DB: Clifdji Solon (vs Dog Walkers)
DB: Christopher Cassamajor (vs Reborn Prospects)
Flex: Justin Lerner (vs Richter)
Flex: Kyle Daniel (vs TuneSquad)
Defence: Glogang (vs Flag Dealers)
