Week 4 Recap:

Bend Don’t Break def Sans Pression 32-12

QB Luke Moreau took care of business with 5 TD passes on solid efficient, 2 of those TDs to Dominic Weidner. The defence also come up huge as they got 3 INTs and a sack from Josh Notte. It was the first game for this team this season and a good start for them. For Sans Pression, Isaac Chavannes was not present, so Guillaume Lincourt took his place as QB. It wasn’t a bad performance as Lincourt has only thrown for one game a few years ago but finished with 3 INTs but with 2 TDs. Marvin Renaud would get an TD in this one showing he can play a pivotal role for this struggling squad with promise for a strong regular season finish.

Sophomore XL Exchange Students def TuneSquad 26-6

The Exchange Students would outscore TuneSquad 20-0 in the second half to win their second game in the drizzling rain. QB Vaughn Vanslet has found early season connections with Anthony Moustache and cousin Ryan Vanslet who each had 2 TDs. Moustache would also get an INT on defence and Michael Schiller would get a sack and would use his long wingspan to disrupt passes. Garner Ross would struggle in this game with 1 TD and an INT and was uncharacteristically inefficient. Jake Applebaum would catch the lone TD and was everywhere on defence. Ryan Freedman had 3 sacks on defence which he now has a sack in every game this season. The weather may have played a factor, but TuneSquad will have a chance to redeem themselves Sunday.

Bible Study def First Down Snifflers 27-25

Hunter Fodor would make 6 receptions and the last one being the most important as he would get the game-winning TD with under 30 seconds remaining. Fodor would get another TD earlier and Rocco Christiano would get 2 TDs with the arm from QB Evan Vavinis. Nicholas Fon would be the key piece on defence with 2 INTs with the last one on the final play of the game securing the win. QB Mathieu Couturier would use his legs mostly as he would have 2 passing TDs and a rushing TD. Guillaume Couture would open the game with a 40-yd TD run which sparked the game. Shoutout to Thierry Levasseur with 3 sacks showing his speed of the snap in this game. For First Down Snifflers, the dual threat of Couturier can be a challenge for oppositions, however, improving his accuracy will need to happen.

The Peckers def Dragon Magique 26-25

The Peckers would survive a second half comeback by Dragon Magique as Vincent Bollulo would get a late TD but a failed 2-pt convert would be the deciding factor. QB Émile Bolullo would throw 4 TDs, but a late first-half TD would prevent Dragon Magique to potentially tie or take the lead at the half while The Peckers would score to open the 2nd half. Guillaume Boulanger would catch all 9 targets for 97yds and a TD, alongside an INT on defence. For The Peckers, QB Noah Lieblein would spread the ball around with 5 receivers with 2+ catches and 4 different scorers. Lieblein and David Giroux would also get an INT on defence, winning a close matchup to build momentum.

Briscoe Hawks def Voodoo 51-31

A high scoring affair in Brossard Saturday night would show near perfection from QB Alex O’Neill with 86% completion and 7 TDs. Out of 6 receivers receiving a target, 5 of them got a TD including both Brandon Kerr and Fabrice Agelus with 2 each. O’Neill would also get a pick-6 on defence and both George Spano and Zachary Mastromonaco would add an INT each on defence. For Voodoo, QB Frank Kaye would do his best with ending with 5 TDs but weren’t able to keep up with Briscoe Hawks in the 2nd half. Kevin Marcil with untouchable on offence with 150yds and 2 TDs and Michael Lecompte was also having a game with 8 receptions and 2 TDs as well. Without a turnover made by the defence, Voodoo was limited in competing with their oppositions in this one.

Airs University @ Richter *Stats not available

Sophomore XL Exchange Students def Rum & Coke 34-25

Michael Schiller would take over as QB for the first time ever and another big 2nd half would have the Exchange Students emerge victorious. Schiller would throw 4 TDs along with a rushing TD. Anthony Moustache and Ryan Vanslet would each get 2 TDs showing that they might be the best duo in the division. Marcus Kulczycki would lead the team with 7 receptions and 96yds. Sophomore XL would get 3 INTs on defence which helped their 22-6 second half. For Rum & Coke, QB Dante Girardi was efficient and would throw 4 TDs but with 3 INTs in the process. Hunter Beriault was catching passes everywhere, and the Exchange Students weren’t able to cover his as he ended with 2 TDs. It was a rare turnover game for Girardi which I don’t expect to repeat so Rum & Coke will continue in my eyes to be a top contender.

Studz def Ball Hawks 41-40

Another high scoring game which would have Studz prevail over Ball Hawks. For QB Philippe Gélinas, he would throw 6 TDs and have big games from Michael Couette who had 122yds and a TD and also Antoine Clément who would have 82yds and 2 TDs. The two-way play from Antoine Jette was also on display with 2 TDs and 2 sacks while allowed Studz to advance to 2-1. For Ball Hawks, this was no shortage of offence as QB Richie Mondesir would finish with 236yds and 6 TDs, matching Gélinas. Rayray Franklin would lead the team with 82yds, and 3 TDs and Jerry Beauboeuf would also haul in 2 TDs. A game where it seemed that no defence was played was decided by a Jette TD and conversion to win the game by Studz.

Dragon Magique def Super Troopers 33-18

Dragon Magique would take a 21-12 lead at the break and not look back towards their 3rd victory of the season. QB Émile Bolullo would finish with 3 TDs and 144yds. It also seemed that Raphael Tremblay also got some snaps as QB in the 1st half and would throw 2 TDs of his own. Is this possibly a two-QB lineup that teams would have to get used to? Lucien Leiontiev would steal the show with 3 TDs and have 2 sacks. For Super Troopers, QB Kenny Boutillier would have 78yds and a TD on the group and had 2 passing TDs. Kyle Martel was the main target with 5 catches and both TDs. It wasn’t the start Boutillier and company wanted but it’s early for their season and they can work on improvements.

Nut N’ Run def Airs University 46-12

QB Nicolas Katerelos and his offence seemed to do whatever they wanted against a depleted Airs University. On 7 possessions, Katerelos was able to pull 7 TDs and would have 5 receivers get at least 3 receptions. On defence, Nut N’ Run were able to get 3 INTs in a comfortable win. For Airs University, the struggles continue. They have played three games so far and haven’t been able to put up more than 12 points. Apart of their sub-par defence so far, their offence hasn’t looked like their usual self. This can factor to poor QB play or even lack of consistent QB. They have athletes on this team but if they can’t figure out their QB situation on a game-to-game basis, looks like a rough season for them.

Ball Hawks def TuneSquad 32-26

After a 18-9 deficit at half and 2 interceptions by the break, QB Garner Ross was able to pick himself back up and nearly deliver a 2nd half comeback against Ball Hawks. Dylan Merovitz was the leading receiver with 2 TDs and Jake Applebaum also contributed with 2 TDs also. With a few minutes remaining, a stop on 4th down would have given TuneSquad great field position being down 20-25 but QB Richie Mondesir would find Jerome Mergenord for a long gain which would lead to a TD by Rayray Franklin to put the game away.Mergenord would be the recipient of several deep catches as he would total 126yds along with his 2 TD.

Glogang def FC Bing 32-8

The Glogang defence was everywhere this game as FC Bing had no answer. It started with 4 sacks by Agostino Giagnacovo who was seemingly by QB Marc-André Senécal every snap. After taking a break, Roshaunn Dorval-Trotman would get on the action with 2 sacks on their own. The Glogang offence didn’t need much as QB Neil Loisel needed only 70yds but with 5 TD due to great field position, capped off the dominant performance. For FC Bing, it was a tough outing, but they have shown glimpses that they can put up points.

Bend Don’t Break @ Show me your TDs *Stats not available

Texas Whales def Dog Walkers 40-14

Texas Whales didn’t have many issues defeating Dog Walkers in a contest that QB Tyler Cousins threw for 4 TDs and Chazz Pisanelli would contribute on the defensive end with a pick-6. Texas Whales have been a team in FPF for a few years now and with the addition of a two-way player in Daniel Alessandro, he’s the real deal and one of the most underrated players in this division. For Dog Walkers, the QB situation continue but Evan Campbell stepped in after a rough showing from Abdul Pierre was promising. Campbell would be efficient and throw for 2 TDs and seemed much more natural behind center than the other players who have tried playing QB. Perhaps this is a step in the right direction for Dog Walkers who have had a rough showing up to this point.

Monstars def NoFlagsGiven 40-38

A last play TD from QB Charles Presser to Logan White would allow Monstars to get their first win in their first game of the season. Presser was efficient and also used his legs with 54yds and a TD. White was the redzone guy as with 4 catches, 3 were TDs. On the other side, QB Tyler Stewart was more efficient than Presser in the loss. Stewart would throw 6 TDs and have 3 incompletions. Amine Encina would have 3 TDs on 93 yards and Mike Phillips would catch both throws to him for 2 TDs. A late safety would be the deciding factor to allow Monstars getting the win but not without some controversy on a potential penalty that might have had NoFlagsGiven win the game. A tough one for NoFlagsGiven but they get a chance to bounce back the following night against Briscoe Hawks.

First Down Snifflers def Sour Puss 33-26

First Down Snifflers would come back being down 13-6 at the break and would outscore Sour puss by double 27-13 to win. QB Mathieu Couturier would throw 5 TDs, and Jacob Pilon would be his main guy with 2 TD and 69yds. Thierry Levasseur would continue his rushing onslaught with 8 sacks in 3 games. For Sour puss their defence would break down in the 2nd half by allowing 3 TDs that were over 25yds. QB Franco Russo wasn’t as efficient as he usually is as he barely had 50% completion and also 2 INTs. He did salvage his day with 4 TD passes and two of them going to Dave Roy.

Not Fast Just Furious def Brewers 38-28

QB William Seguin would go 16/21 with 4 TDs and an INT in the victory. Seguin would also use his legs for 47yds and a rushing TD. Vincent Demers would haul in 2 of those TDs and Fabrice Tremblay would lead his team with 6 receptions. On defence, Jean-Christophe Péladrau was everywhere on the field as not only would he record a sack but also a pick-6. For Brewers, Paolo “Peeze” Della Rocca would put up 4 TDs and 188yds in the loss. Louis Messier-Lavallee would score twice and along with Émile Skaf and Christopher Morin, the trip would each have 7 receptions. The inability score on more possession would be a big part of Brewers not being able to win this one. Brewers are now 0-2 and get a chance to get their first win on Thursday against First Down Snifflers.

Uncle Rico’s Ryders def Not Fast Just Furious 38-31

A tight contest at half and an interception by Dallas Odem to open the 2nd half would allow Uncle Rico’s Ryders to get control of the game and not look back. Mathew Yanakoulias would throw for 254yds and 6 TDs. The offence was evenly distributed, and Daron Migdesyan and Odem would have 2 TDs. On defence, Lucas Diamantopoulos would get 2 sacks on QB William Seguin. For Not Fast Just Furious, Seguin would throw 4 TDs and also rush for one also. His main WR this game was Jeremy Martinet as he would finish with a stat line of 9 receptions, 113yds and 4 TDs. A great offensive output, however, without a turnover in this one, it resulted in their opposition getting the win.

Briscoe Hawks def NoFlagsGiven 43-12

I had anticipation that this game will be a close game, and I was wrong with Briscoe Hawks in control from the get-go. I watched QB Alex O’Neill throw one incomplete pass on route to 180yds and 6 TDs. George Spano would add to his TD total as he would score 3 in this game, having 8 for the season. On defence, Fabrice Agelus was getting every ball thrown to him into a turnover as he would finish with 3 INTs and Brandon Kerr would get a pick-6. For NoFlagsGiven, it was a rough outing. QB Tyler Stewart wasn’t able to connect with his receivers all game and for a team with the offensive fire power that they have, it was non-existent this game. Teams have these types of games, but it might be alarming as their defence wasn’t able to stop Briscoe Hawks once in this game.

The Peckers def Chomedey Chodes 33-18

The Peckers would shutout Chomedey Chodes 21-0 at half which involved some chippy play but would hold on for the victory. For QB Matthew Bottazzi, a rare INT early in the game which would also include several drops by his receivers that built frustration. I also notice Bottazzi not running as he usually is rushing for more than one attempt every game. Chomedey Chodes would outscore The Peckers in the 2nd half, but the game was basically over. For The Peckers, QB Noah Lieblein would seemingly have a wide open WR on every play which would allow him to finish with an 82% rate and having 4 different TD scorers. On defence, Nathan Twik would finish with 3 sacks on the day too.

Nut N’ Run def Super Troopers 29-18

After being down 21-0 at the break, Super Troopers would rally a comeback but wouldn’t have enough time to complete it. QB Kenny Boutilier would be better in the 2nd half with 2 TDs, but a first half injury may have hindered him to only rush one time. Giovani Antonacci was his main redzone target as he would have both TD, being a matchup nightmare. Boutilier would also start the comeback with a pick-6 on the defensive end. For Nut N’ Run, the connection between QB Nicolas Katerelos and Samuel Deland was flawless as Deland was able to run pass the Super Trooper defence every play as he finished with 7 catches for 134yds and 3 TDs. No matter the converge, Deland was able to get a long TD whoever he wanted. On defence, INTs by both Charles-Antoine Nadeau and Vincent Malo prevented the Super Troopers comeback.

Studz def Show me your TDs 59-18

Studz only needed 12 completed passed by both QB Philippe Gélinas and Pierre-Olivier Beaulne Lefebvre to score 7 TDs and having 6 different scorers. The game was over as early as the first play as Mathieu Limoges would get a pick-6 the first play. Antoine Jette would get 4 sacks in the game. For Show me your TDs, the offence struggled in the first half but would improve in the 2nd with QB Chris Toroyan getting 3 TDs, and his main receiver Massimo Strenga would finish with 8 receptions and a TD. I spoke to the team during the game, and they wanted to make 2 teams this season to play more game. I admire the desire to play more flag but with Tier 4 being so strong, it comes with the price. My advice to them, keep playing and use it as a learning experience. It sucks paying a price for getting blowout most games but coming from someone who did that in his very first season in FPF and going 0-10 in brutal fashion, it’s very possible to come back better and stronger. The team looks like they have fun and if they can focus on that and building on individual skills, this season might be a tough one, but they can be back here next year in Tier 4 in better shape.
