TIME TO BE GREAT: Yvan Salomon Jr. and the Rise of Block Party

No Undefeated Teams Left — And That’s a Good Thing

This division officially has no undefeated teams left and honestly that is the best thing that could’ve happened. It proves this isn’t a one team show and it’s competitive and balanced while right now four teams are sitting at the top with just one loss each.

1. Block Party 5-1

2. Venom 5-1

3. Mixtologue 4-1

4. We Thought They Were Snacks 4-1

But when you look a little deeper than records one team is starting to separate itself statistically.

Block Party Aren’t Just Winning — They’re Dominating

Block Party aren’t just winning games they’re blowing out and overwhelming teams. They lead the division in points scored with 232 and also in points allowed with just 80. That’s a +152 point differential through six games. In a division this tight and with this many teams that kind of gap jumps off the page.

Building the Block: The History of Block Party

Before the numbers, before the best team in Coed 2 talk, there was 3HUNNAS. The group first debuted in Winter 2022, but the culture truly shifted when Block Party took over in Winter 2023. With the new name came a new energy and identity, and the results followed with a Coed 3 championship in Spring 2024. They then moved up and did it again in Coed 2 in Spring 2025 — exactly one year apart. Climbing divisions and winning isn’t easy, but with Coed 3 and Coed 2 already secured, I’m sure they have their sights set on winning every coed division. Winter is widely considered the most competitive and hardest season to go all the way and win, and adding a Coed 2 Winter 2026 championship to the résumé would mean something different. It’s an accomplishment they’d love to secure before what could be their Coed 1 debut next season. 👀

The MVP Case for Yvan Salomon Jr.

At the center of it all is Yvan Salomon Jr. who is putting together an MVP level season. Through six games he’s thrown for 927 yards, added 216 rushing yards and has thrown 31 touchdowns not to mention all without throwing a single interception. That alone makes a statement but it’s the way he’s doing it that stands out. He’s not forcing throws and he’s playing smart, efficient football while still taking his shots downfield. He can also extend plays and almost always makes the first player miss, proving that by only being sacked twice all season. Pair that with a 69.2% completion rate and a 131.5 QB rating and just spell out MVP.

He's also leading the division in interceptions on defense with 7 ints and two of them have been returned for touchdowns. Playing quarterback at a high level is demanding enough on its own so to also be a playmaker defensively shows production on both sides of the ball and it’s a big reason for Block Party’s success.

Q&A With Yvan Salomon Jr.

1. First off, where does the name “Block Party” come from and what’s the story behind that? “Actually we were 3hunnas at first, but members changed and we feel like we grew and brought a new energy with us. Block party, because our friends are always down to come show support during games and at the end it always ends up like a big block party. We get to play the game and chill with our friends and family.”

2. From the outside, you guys seem super close. What’s the friendship dynamic like within the team? Is it football first, or did the friendships come before the team? “I think one of the strongest things about our team is our chemistry. The cheering you all see, the hype you all hear: it's real. We genuinely believe in each other and our capabilities. We expect greatness from each other just as equally as we believe it & personally, I think we're friends who play football and not footballers who happen to be friends.”

3. You’re having arguably your best season ever at quarterback. What feels different this season compared to previous seasons? “It’s all about reps and practice to be honest. I played so much games this last seasons, I feel like the games are getting slower, I can read the field better and i’m more confident with my throws.”

4. Zero interceptions through six games — is that something you’re consciously thinking about now? And does that add any pressure if you start thinking about finishing the season without one? “I’m not gonna lie, that would be great to finish the season without throwing any interception but if I throw an interception this season it wouldnt be the end of the world as long as we get the win.”

5. You’ve only been sacked twice all season. How much of that is your reads being there and receivers getting open vs your ability to extend plays and make the first player miss? “The receivers know their route and how to run it and find the hole in the opponent’s defense. I can always use my legs if needed to beat the rusher and extend the plays or gets yards.”

6. You’re also producing on defense — 7 interceptions and 2 returned for touchdowns. How do you balance preparing as a quarterback while also having this much success on the defensive side? “When I play safety, I feel like it’s easier to read the opponent’s offense since I play QB & it’s the same thing the other way around. When I play QB it’s also easier to read the opponent’s defense since I play safety.”

7. You started the season 0–1 and have since won five straight. What does that say about this team’s identity and mindset? “The first game of the season we didnt play our best game and we had to figured out how to play with the newest additions on the team. I don’t know why, but somehow, someway we are always view as the underdogs. ‘TIME TO BE GREAT’ is our motto.”

8. Who on Block Party deserves more recognition right now, and why? “Samora, Urline, Channy, Tabitha, they all deserve some recognition but if I had to pick I would say Zeitha!! Without her, our defense wouldnt be how it is right now. As a rusher, she’s doing an amazing job against the other QBs. After that, she comes on offense and play receiver.”

9. You’re facing #2 ranked Venom this week. Is this the biggest test of the season so far? “Venom with Paul as QB is a scary sight because he brings the experience and he is competitive. We consider all our opponents the same, everytime we step on the field it’s to have fun and win.”

10. And we need a prediction: what's the final score on March 1st against Venom? “I think it might be an high scoring game, I would say 40-30 for us Block Party”
