5v5 Competitive: Week 7 Power Rankings ft. Frederic Juneau

Week 7 is upon us in 5v5 Competitive and things are slowly shaping nearing the mid-point of the season. For this week, every team is in action except Braves who will be back in Week 8 with two games. I got a chance to speak with Bleue Dry 10.1 Qb Frederic Juneau regarding the adjustment and experience his team has had since moving up to Competitive. Before we get into that, I would like to give my first power ranking of the season:

Week 7 Power Rankings

1️⃣ Braves (2-1)

Even with a 2–1 record, I still believe that in 5v5, the Braves are the team to beat. They did lose to PartyCrashers in Week 6, 33–18. Jonathan Maheu did not throw for the Braves that game; it was William Trottier. Trottier has shown that he can be a very good QB when needed, but in this matchup, he didn’t have his best day. It’s hard not to have the Braves at number one when they are at full strength, but I think the gap between them and MTL Magic is consistently getting smaller each season. Jeremy Murphy is back, and he is the x-factor. I believe that if he’s there when the team is at full strength, it’s hard to find anyone of that equivalent on both sides of the ball to stop him.

2️⃣ MTL Magic (2-0)

Sitting at 2–0 is MTL Magic. Dan Lazzara is already looking in mid-season form through two games, and even though they haven’t faced the toughest competition yet, they have allowed only 22 points so far — the best defence in Competitive. They play PartyCrashers Monday night, which kick-starts what I believe is their real schedule. It’s followed by a tough Week 8 with both Flag Moi L’Sac and the Braves. This isn’t the same MTL Magic we’ve seen before. With Jeanslee Alexis playing for PartyCrashers and Raffaele Morelli recovering from injury, it opens the door for other newcomers to make a statement in these next few games.

3️⃣ PartyCrashers (3-0)

PartyCrashers sit atop of the Competitive division this time at 3-0. They have scored an average of 38.7pts per game, enough for 3rd in the division. Having Jeanslee Alexis on the team for 5v5 has proven to me a game-changer as with his elite skillset and IQ from playing with MTL Magic and Team Canada. Having Emerson Peterkin and Mamadi Kaba being the engine of their offense can be a reason I see PartyCrashers making a deep run and even overtaking MTL Magic being the team neck and neck with Braves. The matchup with MTL Magic will be a huge one on Monday night.

4️⃣ Flag Moi L’Sac (2-1)

Flag Moi L’Sac can score at an elite rate. They have never been scared to air it out with the arm of Alex Nadeau-Piuze. Between the trio of Francois Rocheleau, Samuel Nadeau-Piuze and rusher JP St-Pierre, they have the ability to be the number 1 offence by the end of the regular season. What worries me is their defence. Yes, they can make plays but they aren’t the most athletic defensive unit compared to the teams above them. They have allowed over 30 pts per game and for that reason, I can’t put them in the top 3 as of now. Their offence is carrying them but if they can tighten up, the inaugural Competitive champions can find their way back into the championship picture.

5️⃣ KGP Elite (2-0)

They may have been the last team to open their season but they went perfect in Week 6 with victories over #NR and Naproxen. Scoring 41 points in each of those games, Phil Cutler and company have shown that their recent trip to Tampa hasn’t resulted in rust but rather back into the same form as when they were across the border. KGP Elite hasn’t had much success in Competitive in recent seasons in the post-season but maybe another year together can pull them to the elite ranks. A concern so far is that even with two wins, they only have 1 INT by Carl Achy and they have a tougher part of their schedule coming up. Depending on how they perform against Raw Dawgs and Bleue Dry 10.1, they can build momentum towards their Week 12 tough matchups against MTL Magic and Braves.

6️⃣ Raw Dawgs (1-1)

With Jordan Panetta back, I expected him to take over the reins of QB after a successful Spring 2025 season where he threw 31 TDs and only 2 INTs in the 7 games that he threw. So far in Winter 2026, Jeff Rosenblatt has been the main QB whereas Panetta has filled in on special packages when needed. Anthony Brisebois leads the offence with his Team Canada experience on both sides of the field and it does make me think who on both sides can be another spark. Panetta has been solid on both sides but I do wonder how far Raw Dawgs can go with Rosenblatt at QB in this fast-paced division.

7️⃣ Bleue Dry 10.1 (0-2)

With being the new kids on the block, I do think the teams above them have the experience and roster to be higher than Bleue Dry 10.1. I’ve played alongside Frederic Juneau and he has one of the biggest arms in all of FPF and he loves to throw deep. I think his team is still adjusting to the talent level they now face on a regular basis compared to Intermediate but they were able to hang with Flag Moi L’Sac in their first game where it was a one score game at the break. Even against Raw Dawgs, they kept it close. I do think their offence can put up points and find their footing, however, I think their defence is their anchor that will result in them not finishing games. They can prove me wrong but I don’t see their roster being able to contain the elite talent that some of these teams have all over the field.

8️⃣ Naproxen (0-3)

The team I am familiar with the least but they have some playmakers on this team. Stephen Casey has been throwing for the first two games, presumably until Dimitri Sinodinos would make his debut in which he would throw 6 TDs on nearly 85% completion in their close loss to KGP Elite. With Sinodinos throwing, he elevates this Naproxen squad but how consistent will he be at games? Even though they came up short against KGP Elite, their defence has allowed 30+ points in all 3 games. With that being said, close losses to PartyCrashers and KGP Elite does show me that they can compete with these teams so it’s very possible that they jump up the rankings if they can pull some wins in their next few games.

9️⃣ #NR (0-3)

It’s been a tough start for the 0-3 #NR team. Zachary Deschamps has struggled so far in the 3 games he has played so far with as many TDs as INTs with 6 apiece. Losing Joey Notaro for the majority of the season hurts but with Sanders Armand and a veteran group that includes Jourdain Alexis, Kenny Baye and Theirry Gerville, you can’t count these guys out for any games. I do think their season will be rough, especially if Deschamps can’t find his groove soon as with only 5 games remaining after this week, the sense of urgency is now for this team.

Below is after I got a chance to speak with Frederic Juneau about his team and the thoughts after getting a few games into Competitive under his belt.

Going from Intermediate champs to Competitive isn’t easy. Where do you think your team finds its confidence against some of these top-tier squads?

We love the game and the challenge. We knew it wouldn’t be easy, but it’s necessary to become a better and more confident team. Give us some time and our confidence will build to compete with the best.

From a QB perspective, do the defences in Competitive feel different? More disguises, tighter windows? How do you stay comfortable back there?

Oh, absolutely! Players are better, faster, and the windows are tighter, but I love it. There are no margins for error. After two games, I’ve learned a lot. Offensively, we need to address little details to score more with fewer turnovers. I am confident we will get there, fast.

Zachary Vincent continues to improve at a young age. What stands out about his development, and what allows him to keep taking steps forward each week?

Zach is young indeed. He works construction during the day, plays hockey, plays flag football for dessert, and he still manages to run and do dips like nothing. He’s a very good athlete. Our chemistry will be very impactful for the success of this team this season and in future seasons.

Even without having a full roster for one of your games, what have you seen from your defence so far? What needs to improve to create more stops and turnovers?

Defensively, we will get better. We need our full roster and to build our chemistry for this season. The rest will come with time.

You’ve got KGP Elite this week before a two-week break. With a rusher like Ethan Adrian coming at you, are there adjustments you’re looking to make to get the ball out quicker?

I look forward to this game. We lost the first two and they won the first two. I’ve seen the rusher and yes, he’s quicker than my dog. I’ll see how it goes, but for sure the ball can’t stay 6.5 seconds in my hands. Hopefully they won’t send the rusher sometimes, jk. I’m ready to throw touchdowns.
