They'll play twice in just over 24 hours against The Merge and La Sororité, with four valuable points on the line. Two victories would strengthen their place near the top of the standings and build momentum heading into a difficult finish to the regular season. After asking who could challenge Hiboux last week, Week 9 feels like Supernova's chance to prove it belongs in that conversation.

What makes this weekend even more intriguing is that Supernova hasn't played in over a month. Instead of easing back into competition with one game, they'll have to shake off the rust immediately before turning around and doing it all again less than 24 hours later.

Can Supernova Build Momentum?

One thing has remained consistent throughout Supernova's season: they've found ways to compete regardless of who's available. Earlier this month, quarterback Clarence Michaud spoke about relying on the team's experience while constantly adjusting to different lineups, and despite rarely fielding the same roster, Supernova has stayed in striking distance of first place.

Now the challenge shifts from simply staying competitive to proving they can string together complete performances. Two games in less than 24 hours won't just test Supernova's talent; they'll test its consistency.

A pair of victories would strengthen their playoff position before closing the regular season against Cavaliers, Hiboux and Wolfpack. If they can leave Week 9 with four points, the conversation surrounding Supernova could look very different heading into August.

Supernova vs The Merge

Their first meeting proved just how evenly matched these two teams are. Although the final score finished 14-13, Supernova controlled much of the game after building a 14-7 halftime lead. The Merge made one final push late in the fourth quarter, but a missed conversion after its touchdown allowed Supernova to escape with the victory.

Michaud led the way with 221 passing yards and two touchdowns without turning the ball over. Substitute receiver Sandrine Aubry made an immediate impact, hauling in seven catches for 147 yards and a touchdown, while Marilou Gélinas added eight receptions and a score of her own. On the other side, quarterback Sarah-Maude Hamel and receiver Samara Fanta Sacko nearly completed the comeback, connecting for a late touchdown that kept the game alive until the final whistle.

Now, the two teams meet again with a better understanding of what to expect from one another. If the first matchup was any indication, another close contest could come down to just one or two key plays in the closing minutes.

Can Supernova Keep the Momentum Going?

La Sororité vs Supernova

It's been over a month since these teams last met, and plenty has changed since then. Supernova's 32-6 victory over La Sororité in Week 4 was also its most recent game, giving the team extra time to recover and prepare for the second half of its schedule.

That extra time may have helped Supernova recharge, but any benefit from the layoff disappears after Saturday. By the time they face La Sororité, the focus will shift from shaking off the rust to managing the fatigue of playing twice in one weekend.

Michaud put together one of her strongest performances of the season in the first meeting, throwing for 214 yards and five touchdowns while spreading the ball around to four different receivers for scores. That balanced offensive attack overwhelmed La Sororité a month ago, but Sunday presents a completely different challenge.

Rather than entering fresh off a lengthy break, Supernova will be playing its second game in less than 24 hours after battling The Merge. That added workload could make Sunday's matchup much more competitive than the first meeting, while La Sororité will be eager to show how much it has improved since the two teams last met.
