Division 3 Update: Fafard's Dual-Threat Ability Leads Beer Belly Brigade's Strong Start

Division 3 is approaching the halfway point of the regular season. Through the first few weeks, the 24-team division has started to separate into clear tiers as the playoff picture slowly takes shape.

Beer Belly Brigade sit atop the standings with a perfect 4-0 record, having outscored opponents 182-101 through their first four contests. The team opened with a 41-24 victory over Himmothies before posting dominant wins against Bet the Under (70-26) and EastWay (39-24). Their most recent game saw them hold off Les Petites Carottes 32-27 to maintain their unblemished record.

Win Diesel occupy second place at 4-1, posting 142 points for and 116 against across five games. Their only loss came against Banditos (26-25) in Week 2, but they've responded with victories over All-Blacks, Nomads, The R.E.E.T, and EastWay.

Speed Academy hold third place with a 3-0-1 record. The unbeaten squad has recorded wins over Big Fat Bats (36-34), Banditos (39-12), and Killer Rays (52-34), while battling All-Blacks to a 26-26 tie in Week 2.

The middle of the standings features a competitive cluster of 3-1 teams. Caroline (122 PF, 63 PA), Les Renards Vifs (90 PF, 71 PA), Les Petites Carottes (136 PF, 83 PA), and Killer Rays (130 PF, 111 PA) are all positioned to make playoff pushes in the second half of the season.

At the bottom, three teams are searching for their first wins. Mengoose sit at 0-5 with 98 points for and 179 against. One Goal share the same 0-5 record with 95 points scored and 156 allowed. Himmothies are 0-2, having scored 49 points while surrendering 73.

Standout Players

Alexandre Fafard - Beer Belly Brigade

Alexandre Fafard is playing the best flag football of his FPF career. The quarterback has put up big numbers in lower divisions before, including 37 passing touchdowns and 9 interceptions in Division 3 last winter at a 69% completion rate. His current performance at this level of competition represents his most impressive work yet.

Through four games, Fafard has completed 70 of 91 passes for 668 yards and 21 touchdowns without throwing an interception. His 77% completion percentage marks a significant improvement from previous seasons. What sets this season apart is his dual-threat ability. Fafard leads the division in rushing with 327 yards and 4 touchdowns, making him the most dangerous runner in Division 3. His ability to attack defenses both through the air and on the ground has been instrumental in Beer Belly Brigade's undefeated start.

William Sebag - Win Diesel

William Sebag is one of the most versatile players in FPF, capable of playing every position on the field. He demonstrates this versatility when playing with KGP in higher divisions, where he's learned from elite players like Phil Cutler. While Sebag has quarterback experience and posted an amazing season in Division 4B last winter, this marks the highest level he's played as a full-time starter.

The step up in competition hasn't slowed him down. Through five games, Sebag has thrown for 823 yards and 20 touchdowns against 4 interceptions while completing 63% of his passes (80 of 127). His all-around football knowledge and experience at multiple positions is translating into success at quarterback, helping Win Diesel to their 4-1 record and second place in the standings.

Marc-André Lapointe - Beer Belly Brigade

Marc-André Lapointe's wealth of experience may be the reason behind his quarterback's career-best season. Despite this being his first full season with Fafard, the veteran receiver has developed immediate chemistry with his signal-caller.

Lapointe leads Division 3 with 32 receptions while adding 266 yards and 11 touchdowns. His 11 receiving scores are tied for second in the division. The reliable target has provided Fafard with a go-to option in crucial situations, and his veteran presence has been a key factor in Beer Belly Brigade's perfect 4-0 start.

Alexandre Szalipszki - Ball Hawks

Alexandre Szalipszki is one of the most active players in FPF, competing on multiple teams across different divisions and formats throughout the league. His constant exposure to various levels of competition is evident in his Division 3 performance.

Szalipszki is exceptional after the catch, using his shifty movements and great hips to create extra yardage. Through three games, he's hauled in 23 receptions for 328 yards and 7 touchdowns, averaging 14.3 yards per catch. His 328 receiving yards rank third in the division. Despite Ball Hawks' 0-2-1 record, Szalipszki continues to produce at an elite level, making defenders miss and turning short gains into explosive plays.

Ezechiel Tieide - Nomads

Ezechiel Tieide is a CFL receiver, and having a professional player in Division 3 can be a cheat code. He's the most gifted player in the division and arguably in the entire league.

Tieide's athleticism is on another level, and he's dominant as a two-way player. On offense, he's caught 18 passes for 191 yards and 4 touchdowns through five games. His impact extends to defense, where he's recorded 18 tackles (tied for third in the division), 1 interception, and 3 pass deflections. Despite his individual excellence, Nomads sit at 1-4, unable to translate Tieide's talent into team success.

Manu Allard-Roy - Les Petites Carottes

Manu Allard-Roy brings extensive experience from the highest levels of FPF, making him an extremely valuable two-way player for Les Petites Carottes.

On offense, Allard-Roy has caught 28 passes (third in the division) for 216 yards and 6 touchdowns through four games. His defensive production is equally impressive, posting 14 tackles and 3 interceptions (tied for second in Division 3) along with 1 pass deflection. His high-level experience and ability to impact both sides of the ball have been crucial to Les Petites Carottes' 3-1 start.

Fitzgerald Cenatus - EastWay

Fitzgerald Cenatus is one of the best defensive players in Division 3, though his statistics don't fully capture his impact. His elite coverage skills disrupt passing games and lock down receivers in ways that don't always show up in the box score.

Through four games, Cenatus has recorded 7 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 1 pass deflection. On offense, he's contributed 8 catches for 105 yards and 4 touchdowns. His two-way ability and defensive presence have been key factors in EastWay's 2-2 record.

Jared Arany - Killer Rays

Jared Arany is an extremely competitive player and arguably the best rusher in Division 3. In flag football with no blocking, getting to the quarterback requires speed and relentless effort.

Arany leads the division with 7 sacks (tied) through four games. His ability to consistently pressure quarterbacks has disrupted opposing offenses and created opportunities for his teammates. His relentless rush has been a major factor in Killer Rays' 3-1 start to the season.

With five games remaining in the regular season, these standout performers will look to maintain their production as the playoff race intensifies.
