Division 5B: Week 5 Recap And Speaking With Kody Rodgers
Hey everyone, we are back for this week’s article ahead of Week 6. This past week was filled with 8 games, and with at least one team in every matchup scoring 30+, offenses are finding their groove early and quick. What we have for this week is a quick look at 3 different games from last week, the fantasy lineup recap from the previous week and we have another player spotlight from an individual who started their FPF career a bit later than usual.
We Ain’t Done With the 90’s have made their statement at this point of the season as being a team to beat. They would face Puff Puff Pass last Sunday and would dominate towards a 34-15 victory. Jamie Ojeaha is having no issues spreading the ball evenly with 4 different TD scorers. His team was able to have a strong start and lead at the break 20-0 and never looked back. Being at the top of the standings at 3-0, a big matchup I will look at is in the Week 8 game against the undefeated Bend Don’t Break.
Speaking of Bend Don’t Break, they were able to give my McGill Swim Team a beat down 48-12, demonstrating that they are a true contender and for every team in 5B to take notice. The game started rough for my team as the first ball thrown as an INT and Bend Don’t Break never looked back. The trio of Anthony Pompeo, Dominic Weidner and Jonah Lararovitz would score 2 TDs each and QB Luke Moreau played a flawless game. For McGill Swim Team, I think my team will agree that the game didn’t demonstrate our true potential, however, seeing what a true contender looks like is eye opening of the level of competition that will be played in 5B if we want to make a serious playoff run.
Chateauguay Community College put up a solid 39 against PSTM in a game where their defence gathered 3 INTs from Jesse Kotlarczyk. Zachary Gaudette would throw for a career-high 289 yards in the win while adding 6 TDs. This game seemed to be the case where CCC had a commanding 19 point lead at the break but let off the gas pedal which allowed PSTM to make the game closer than what it’s been. An early 4-1 start is very good and allows this team to be near the top of the table at their half point of the year. With games against Puff Puff Pass and P.I Central coming up, those games should be on the easier side for them before a showdown in week 11 against Demons and a season finale against We Ain’t Done With the 90’s.
Below are the results of the first fantasy football matchup against Tristan “TJ” Koutsoumbas from Angry Birds. Big shoutout from Mathis Pilon who would have the biggest week out of anyone in either lineup

For this week’s player spotlight, I went to ask an individual who is on the newer side of FPF, Kody Rodgers, rusher for We Ain’t Done With the 90’s. Earlier in the season, captain Jamie Ojeaha would let the league know that Rodgers is a rusher to keep your eyes on. I’ve had the opportunity to watch him in action early this season and Ojeaha is right, Rodgers is a rusher to keep your eye on.
Player Spotlight: Kody Rodgers
Who are you for people who don’t know you yet?

Depending on who I’m with, I’ve been told that I either give off golden retriever vibes or I’m calm and reserved.
What was your first experience playing flag like?
So I was initially really nervous before playing my first game, it being the first time I played football. But once the whistle blew and the game started I was at home. I ended up getting 2 sacks, it was a good day.
What’s something you’re really good at that doesn’t show up in the stats?
I grew up being a runner so I’d say my cardio is pretty good
How do you respond after a bad play?
Take a step back and reset, try and learn from what I just did wrong, I’m learning with every play so no there’s no use getting stuck up on a bad play
What would surprise people if they really watched you play?
Apart from flag football, I haven’t played any team sports since I was 17.
Who on your team makes your job easier?
Jamie 100%, he's the reason I’m here and helps me whenever I need or have questions.
Is there a matchup you’re excited for?
Not really, every game is a new challenge so I like to take it one step at a time.
Trash talker or quiet competitor?
I’m a silent competitor, I like to do my role as best as I can and let that do all the talking.
Closing Remarks:
There you go for Division 5B and I wanted to thank Kody and Tristan once again for taking the time to be featured this week. The mid-season is approaching soon for teams who haven’t gotten there yet so in the coming weeks, expect the mid-season reviews. We’re heading into Week 6, and remember to get your 5 games played for players and to avoid any uniform violations.
