Division 4A: Recap Before Week 5 And Fantasy Flag Football With Noah Groper
Hey guys, we’re back for another week in Division 4A. With only four games played last week, it was important for teams to make a statement during a relatively quiet slate. We also have our first flag fantasy football showdown this week, and my first opponent is the highly skilled offensive weapon Noah Groper from Rick & Marty.
I’ve had the opportunity to both play with and watch Groper over the years, and I can confidently say he has excellent ball skills as a receiver — and he’s an overall great dude. Before we dive into our fantasy lineups for the upcoming week, let’s break down the team performances from last week.
Snowdown Deli Degens vs. Bible Study
The shootout of the week featured a 60-piece from Snowdown Deli Degens in a Saturday evening matchup against Bible Study. With over 100 points scored, defence was optional that night. I filmed this game, and if you want to check out the highlights, I highly recommend visiting the FPF Instagram page.
Evan Vavinis told me ahead of time that he’d have a CFL player in his lineup, and watching Joey Corcoran make every route look effortless only reinforced why the Winnipeg Blue Bombers value him as a receiver. Corcoran finished with two touchdowns, a game-high 150 yards, and two interceptions. Not to be outdone, Rocco Christiano added four touchdowns of his own.
Vavinis was having a solid game, but a shoulder injury affected his throwing and stalled the Bible Study offence. On the other side, Adam Malinoff had an impressive outing, throwing seven touchdowns (including one rushing) — five of them to Lewis Epstein. The chemistry between the two, built over years of playing together, was on full display.
Defensively, Snowdown Deli Degens recorded five interceptions, with Sam Anastasopoulos leading the way with two. If these two teams meet again in the playoffs, expect the over/under to be set very high.
Ducks vs. Are You Not Entertained
Ducks took control early, building a 21–6 lead at halftime and never looking back. Antoine Chabot has looked increasingly comfortable over his last two games, totaling eight touchdowns and over 160 yards in each.
Vincent Sabourin led the offence with two touchdowns on nine targets, while Étienne Chabot matched him with two receiving touchdowns of his own. On the defensive side, Philippe Barbeau added two interceptions for Ducks. After a tough season opener, Ducks have now won two straight and appear to be building momentum.
For Are You Not Entertained, it’s been a rough stretch. After a close loss to open the season, they’ve now dropped two straight games by wider margins. McRodly JeanMarie took snaps at quarterback, but with a completion percentage under 50%, it’s tough to win games in Division 4.
This is a team that found success in Tier 4 and Division 5 last season, but they’ve struggled so far at 0–3. Consistent quarterback play remains a concern, as neither JeanMarie nor Alex Roberge has fully seized the role yet. The talent and defensive strength are there — but wins are needed now more than ever.
Nut N’ Run vs. Ball Hawks
In a game where both quarterbacks threw four touchdowns without an interception, Nut N’ Run edged out Ball Hawks on a last-play conversion by Samuel Deland. Deland scored the game-tying touchdown before converting the game-winning point, while Daniel Garcia added two touchdowns and led the team with 12 targets.
Nut N’ Run improved to 2–0, and despite missing Charles-Antoine Nadeau, they secured a quality win over Ball Hawks. On the flip side, Ball Hawks were looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Snowdown Deli Degens the previous week.
Richie Mondesir finished with zero interceptions and only one sack allowed — a performance that would normally suggest Ball Hawks capitalized on a less-than-100% Nut N’ Run squad. Instead, the game came down to the final second. Touchdowns were spread out across multiple receivers, with Jerry Beauboeuf leading the team with eight targets.
This was Mondesir’s best game of the season so far, and I expect performances like this to continue. The question now is whether Ball Hawks can avoid sinking further when they face Team Ethnik in Week 7.
Black Vipers vs. The Last Chance
Black Vipers picked up their first win of the season against The Last Chance in a matchup where both teams were searching for their first victory. Mathis Coulombe continued to be efficient, completing 75% of his passes in the win.
Vincent Richard led the team with six receptions, added a touchdown, and recorded an interception on defence. I expect him to remain a key contributor as Black Vipers look to build momentum.
For The Last Chance, the record drops to 0–3, but this was their closest game of the season so far. Natan Girouard-Langlois delivered his best performance of the campaign, and if he can continue to improve his completion rate, the wins will come.
His primary target was Merton Theagene, who accounted for all three touchdowns and has clearly established himself as the team’s top receiver. The Last Chance will have two opportunities to grab their first win in Week 5 — first against Bible Study, followed by a Monday night matchup against Ducks in St-Leonard.
