Co-Ed 3: Star Performances during Week 3
Week 3 featured seven matchups, with several teams taking the field twice. More reps meant more opportunities for both the men and women in this division to build chemistry and settle into their roles. For this article, I wanted to highlight a few standout performances from the past week.
All Day Every Day: Dylan Boucher
It was a busy week for All Day Every Day, but the extra games only benefited them as they finished 2-0. Laurent Charles has done a tremendous job at quarterback, and as a result, his number-one target Dylan Boucher has been thriving.
Their first matchup came against The Woo's, where All Day Every Day controlled the game from start to finish. Boucher led all receivers with 5 receptions and added a touchdown. In a much closer game against Fatties, he once again finished with 5 receptions but found the end zone three times.
While he wasn't able to record an interception, Boucher's five passes defended made life difficult for opposing quarterback Sam Anastasopoulos. The Concordia defensive back continues to make a major impact offensively, but as a natural defender, his contributions on that side of the ball should never be overlooked.
LysMoiLeFlag: Elodie Desrochers
The recently graduated Concordia Stinger continues to establish herself as one of the division's top female receivers. In the loss to The Woo's, Elodie Desrochers caught all 7 of her targets and scored twice.
While the result wasn't what LysMoiLeFlag was hoping for, Desrochers continues to climb the rankings with every week of experience she gains in FPF. At the time of writing, she sits third among all female receivers in receptions and ninth overall in the division.
Perhaps the most impressive statistic is that she has yet to drop a target this season. Even with a significant workload, Desrochers has consistently delivered whenever her team needs her. LysMoiLeFlag won't play again until the end of June, but I would expect her to pick up right where she left off when the schedule resumes.
Fatties: Peter Berts
Speaking of Fatties, Peter Berts put together one of the best two-way performances of the week in their win over Michael Scott's Tots.
With the game hanging in the balance, Sam Anastasopoulos connected with Berts on a 30-yard touchdown pass to give Fatties a two-point lead late in the game. As if that wasn't enough, Berts sealed the victory moments later with an interception off David De Andrade.
Offensively, he hauled in all 6 of his targets, finishing with 78 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. Defensively, he added 2 interceptions, including the game-clinching play. Peter has long been one of Sam's most reliable targets, and Fatties' close loss to All Day Every Day without him only highlighted how important he is to this team's success.
Phantom Troupe: Chelsea Britton
Currently leading the division in touchdown passes, Chelsea Britton continues to strengthen her case as one of the most impactful players in Co-Ed 3.
During Week 3, Phantom Troupe faced both Back That Pass Up and Michael Scott's Tots. In the first matchup, Britton threw 4 touchdown passes in the victory. The following night, she followed it up with 5 more touchdowns, including 3 scoring connections with Frederic Dodd.
I had the chance to watch the second half of that game and what stood out most was Britton's composure. Despite finishing with nine incompletions overall, only three came in the second half, including conversion attempts. She settled into the game and consistently made the right reads when her team needed them most.
The former Trappeurs and recently graduated Aigles has all the tools to finish the season not only as the best female quarterback in the division, but as the best quarterback overall.
Closing Remarks
That's all for this week's article. Week 4 will be a quieter one with only four games on the schedule, but that doesn't make them any less important. As we slowly approach the midpoint of the season, every win and loss starts carrying a little more weight in the standings.
With several teams beginning to separate themselves while others look to climb back into the playoff picture, expect each matchup this week to have added significance. For the players I’ve given credit for above, keep an eye on these if you see them on your schedules and I’ll be around more to see games from this division so you can always prove me wrong! Good luck to everyone this weekend and I'll see you all around the fields.
As always, if there's a player, team or storyline you'd like to see covered in a future article, don't hesitate to reach out to me at the fields or through Facebook and Instagram @keyoncyrus.
