Women's Division A opens with a loaded field, a pair of teams deadlocked at the top, and plenty of questions still to be answered in the weeks ahead.

Around the Division

Purple Heat

One of the more fascinating rosters in the division, Purple Heat is the product of two historically successful programs coming together under one banner. Players who made their names with Matrix — like Abigaelle Perreault and Anne-Frédérique Tardif — now share the field with Cayenne veterans such as Clara Beaudoin, Mathilde Renaud, and Sandrine Gobeil-Huot. Three wins in four games suggest the blend is working. They sit atop the standings on points differential alone, tied with BIRDSSSS but holding a slightly narrower margin. Beaudoin has been sharp at quarterback when called upon, posting a 107 QB rating across two games, while Perreault leads the entire division in tackles with 15 through four weeks.

BIRDSSSS

A newer program by divisional standards, BIRDSSSS enters Spring 2026 as one of the more intriguing teams to follow. The roster is young and features talent that extends beyond the FPF field — Laury-Ann Bouchard and Roseline Majeau both play for Concordia University, adding a level of athleticism and football IQ to an already capable group. Under the guidance of coach Tam Vilaydeth, this team has been built to develop and compete simultaneously. Clarence Michaud has been excellent at quarterback, completing 70% of her passes for 624 yards and 10 touchdowns with just 3 interceptions across three games — a 113 QB rating that ranks among the division's best. Alice Lucier is the engine of the passing game, leading all receivers with 304 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Chaos

The reigning Women's Division 2 champions arrive in Division A with something to prove. Allyson Sobol is a gunslinger who is not afraid to attack downfield, and her numbers reflect that mindset — 154 attempts, 938 yards, and 12 touchdowns through four games make her the most prolific passer in the division by a considerable margin. The interception total of 8 comes with the territory for a quarterback who pushes the ball vertically. Emma Townsend-Asselin has emerged as her primary target with 25 receptions for 277 yards and 4 touchdowns. Chaos went 2-2 over their first four games, including a close 19-18 win over BIRDSSSS in Week 3 that showed they can find ways to win tight games.

Nyx

Nyx has played just one game, but that game will be talked about. A 27-19 win over Purple Heat in Week 3 sent a clear message to the rest of the division. Quarterback Athena Ryan was the story — 227 yards, 4 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and a 137 QB rating in her season opener. Whether she is the best quarterback in Division A remains a genuine conversation, one that will play out over the next several weeks. Anouk Benalil and Lara Uzoka give Ryan two legitimate weapons to work with, combining for 147 yards and 3 touchdowns in that lone appearance. Nyx may have the least data on the board, but they have the division's attention.

Bleu Poud

Bleu Poud's 1-2 record does not fully capture what this team has to offer. Where they stand out most is on defence. Sarah Berbiche and Audrey Lajoie form one of the better defensive tandems in the division — Lajoie has recorded 3 interceptions in three games, and Berbiche will always be a constant disruption. Teams cannot expect easy drives against this group; every possession will need to be earned.

Sparks

It has been a difficult start for Sparks, who sit at 0-4 with a point differential of -83. The results have been tough, but there is a player worth keeping an eye on as the season continues. Marika Bouchard has shown genuine playmaking ability as a receiver — 112 yards on 8 catches in two games, averaging 14.0 yards per reception, which ranks among the best in the division. A breakout campaign from Bouchard could be one of the more compelling individual storylines of the spring.

Week 4 Previews

Nyx @ Chaos

This is the matchup the division has been waiting for. Nyx is undefeated and coming off a statement win over Purple Heat. Chaos is 2-2 but showed in Week 3 that they can win close games. The central storyline is straightforward: Athena Ryan against an Allyson Sobol-led offence, with both teams capable of putting up points quickly. Chaos has been tested in close games and knows how to find a way to win. Their defence, led by Sharlyn Vixamar's 2 interceptions, will need to be at its best against a Nyx offence that has shown it can score in bunches.

Prediction: Nyx wins a close one — 26-21. Ryan's efficiency edge is the difference, but Chaos keeps it within reach until the end.

Bleu Poud @ Purple Heat

These two met in Week 2 with Purple Heat coming away with a narrow 14-12 win — a result that showed just how difficult Bleu Poud can be to score on. Lajoie and Berbiche will once again be central to whether that defence can keep Purple Heat's offence in check. Bleu Poud has the personnel to make every drive a challenge, and Purple Heat will need to be sharp to pull away from a team that does not give up easy yards. Expect another tight game between two teams that match up well.

Prediction: Purple Heat 18, Bleu Poud 13. A grind of a game decided in the second half.

Purple Heat @ BIRDSSSS

The game of the week. Two teams tied at the top of the standings meet for what amounts to an early-season statement game. Purple Heat came out on top when these two faced off previously, but BIRDSSSS has been building consistency with Michaud at quarterback and a receiving corps that gives her multiple options on every drive. Eunice Fotso leads BIRDSSSS on defence with 3 interceptions, and she will be a pivotal figure against a Purple Heat offence that can move the ball. This one could go either way.

Prediction: BIRDSSSS 22, Purple Heat 19. Michaud's efficiency and a deep receiving corps carry them to a narrow win — and first place outright.
