5v5 Competitive: Semifinals Preview & Predictions

Tomorrow night will be the semifinals of 5v5 Competitive. The four teams remaining are no strangers to the big stage of the playoffs or strangers to each other. We will have Flag Moi L’Sac take on PartyCrashers in a rematch in the season’s more hyped contest. A few hours later, a continued rivalry between Raw Dawgs and Braves will decide the other finalist. Let’s get straight into these previews.

Semifinals Preview

Flag Moi L’Sac vs PartyCrashers (Saturday May 9, 6pm in Brossard)

Previous matchup: Flag Moi L’Sac def PartyCrashers 35-34

In Week 10, PartyCrashers were undefeated at 6-0 when they ran into Flag Moi. Francois Rocheleau and Samuel Nadeau-Piuze were among those missing in this contest. With a roster of five, Alex Nadeau-Piuze led his team to a one-point victory after PartyCrashers were unsuccessful on a 2-point convert attempt to win the game.

It was peak Saturday night in Brossard, where the crowd was electric for this one. In that game, there were a few calls where the PartyCrashers crowd felt things should have gone the other way, but ultimately, they still had a chance to win the game on the final play.

Going into the rematch, I expect both teams to be at full strength. It was a positive sign for PartyCrashers to have Jeanslee Alexis back at QB in their quarterfinal matchup against Bleue Dry 10.1 after an injury late in the regular season.

Speaking with Emerson Peterkin, who has served as a very good option as a second QB in 5v5, he made it clear that the team respects Flag Moi but is entering this game with a “get back mentality” after suffering their only loss of the season.

“The way I see it, it was a close game, and they got the edge with good plays and execution… it was still a winnable game. We are definitely coming into this playoff game with a get back mentality.”

PartyCrashers will need to create time for whoever is handling the ball behind the line of scrimmage in order to give their receivers a chance to get open. They have athletes all over their roster, and for them to get a victory, they will likely need to play from ahead.

Even though PartyCrashers would be favored in this one, I believe Flag Moi has the experience and would manage the clock well if given the chance. For Flag Moi, they will try to spread their receivers horizontally and vertically. Getting the ball to Rocheleau and Sam will be huge, but you also can’t ignore the historic game from Guillaume Paquet in the quarterfinals. Paquet scored all 5 TDs in his team’s victory, one away from tying the playoff individual game record.

Peterkin also pointed out what makes this offence difficult to defend compared to most teams in the division.

“The big difference of defending this offence compared to other teams in the division is the QB’s patience to find the open guy… Also, their ability to get open looks through their scheme.”

Even with that respect toward Flag Moi’s offence, Peterkin still believes PartyCrashers have the defensive talent to answer back.

“I believe we have the best defence in the league so we just have to be on point and meet good offence with better defence.”

Having Alex get his receivers open with his play-calling will be key, and keeping this game into a shootout will always give Flag Moi a chance. On the defensive side of the ball, if they can create chaos for Alexis and force a turnover or two, they would put themselves in a strong position toward a victory.

This will also be the second game of the night for PartyCrashers, given that they will play in Division 1 earlier in the evening. Both teams will need to rely on their strengths and limit opportunities for the opposition to capitalize.

When talking about the matchup overall, Peterkin believes the game will simply come down to execution.

“Both teams have played many games in the playoff environment and both teams match up very closely. It can be anyone’s game, execution will ultimately be the deciding factor.”

I do think the extra game earlier in the evening will play a small factor, but the PartyCrashers supporters should help uplift their team toward a victory and a finals appearance in 5v5 Comp.

Prediction: PartyCrashers def Flag Moi L'Sac 42- 39

Raw Dawgs vs Braves (Saturday May 9, 9pm in Brossard)

Previous matchups: Braves def Raw Dawgs 38-12

In the lone matchup, Braves outmatched Raw Dawgs in a game where Jordan Panetta had only five incompletions. He did throw two INTs, but the main issue was that Raw Dawgs weren’t able to capitalize when they entered Braves territory. They scored twice, whereas Braves scored on five of their six possessions.

These teams met in the semifinals last Fall and even though Panetta didn’t play that season, Braves kept the same defensive pressure and held Raw Dawgs to 12 points. It has been the story of 2025 between these two teams in the playoffs, as last Spring season, Braves dominated their way to a 42-14 championship victory.

As everyone knows, playoffs can bring out a different team compared to the regular season. Braves currently have everything going for them. They finished the season 9-1 and have looked nearly perfect in 5v5 action.

I spoke with Emile Chateauvert about how Braves have become the ultimate villain and dynasty of FPF. Even after defeating Raw Dawgs earlier this season, Chateauvert made it clear that his team still respects the challenge ahead.

“Je ne crois pas qu’ils ont plus de pression parce qu’on les a battus plus tôt dans la saison. Je crois que c’est une bonne équipe remplie de talent et qu’ils peuvent surprendre n’importe qui, surtout en séries éliminatoires.”
“I don’t think they have more pressure just because we beat them earlier in the season. I believe they’re a very talented team that can surprise anybody, especially in the playoffs.”

Before the Braves can claim another championship in this division, they will need to get through Raw Dawgs once again.

With WR of the Year Dan Mancini currently sitting at 21 TDs in 10 total games, he is primed to find the end zone in this matchup. However, Chateauvert emphasized that Braves’ defence focuses on stopping entire offensive systems rather than targeting one specific player.

“Notre défensive ne se concentre pas sur un seul joueur… Notre but n’est pas d’éliminer l’option Mancini, notre but est d’éliminer les options de marquer des points.”
“Our defence doesn’t focus on one player… our goal isn’t to eliminate Mancini as an option, our goal is to eliminate their opportunities to score points.”

It will be a great battle to watch Mancini against the talented Braves defence.

Each team enters this matchup with 10 eligible players. For Raw Dawgs, expect the duo of Panetta and McMahon to constantly pressure Braves’ defence behind the line of scrimmage. McMahon, one of the shiftiest and fastest players in FPF, is no stranger to taking a short pass all the way to the house.

For Raw Dawgs, as much as everyone will be rooting against the Braves, they can’t let that get into their heads or the game could quickly slip away. They know it will be a difficult battle, but they have a roster full of players capable of giving the Braves problems. They will need to execute and finish drives, something they struggled to do in the regular season matchup. Panetta will need to take shots and be accurate on them.

As for the Braves, they have been here before. Chateauvert acknowledged that their current run is about continuing to prove that this dynasty is far from over.

“Évidemment, notre but est de rappeler à la ligue qu’on est encore là pour compétitionner. C’est sûr qu’avoir quatre titres de suite en 5v5 serait très plaisant, surtout que si on additionne les six derniers championnats qu’on a gagnés en 6v6 ainsi que les trois derniers en 5v5, une victoire nous amènerait à une séquence de 10 championnats consécutifs.”
“Obviously, our goal is to remind the league that we’re still here to compete. Winning a fourth straight 5v5 title would be special, especially considering that if you combine our last six championships in 6v6 with our last three in 5v5, another championship would bring us to 10 consecutive titles overall.”

I expect the Braves to control the pace of the game and wouldn’t be surprised if they land the knockout punch early in the second half. In 5v5, the Braves still seem to have Raw Dawgs’ number and in the semifinals, I believe that trend will continue.

Prediction: Braves def Raw Dawgs 36-20
