5v5 Competitive: Quarterfinals Preview and Predictions

It’s been a long break, 3 weeks to be exact, but 5v5 Competitive is back in action this week. At the start of the season, we had 9 teams chasing the ultimate championship, NR would be the team who didn’t make the playoffs so the top 8 teams are now starting a new season. PartyCrashers and Braves ended the season at 9-1 but with PartyCrashers winning the regular season matchup, they got the chance to be the number 1 seed. Before we get into each matchup, let’s take a moment to congratulate the 5v5 Comp All-Stars from this season. Check out the list below.

5v5 Competitive All-Stars

Quarterfinals Matchups

#5 Flag Moi L’Sac vs #4 KGP Elite

Previous matchup: KGP Elite def Flag Moi L’Sac 40-34

These teams faced off in Week 13, but with the long break for playoffs in this division, it’s been three weeks. In that matchup, Phil Cutler got the best of Alex Nadeau-Piuze. Cutler had only two incompletions, finishing with 6 TD passes. Rory Semerjian led the game with 11 receptions and scored twice. François Rocheleau scored 3 times but was matched by Ethan Adrian for KGP, who also had three TDs.

The game looked to be over, but Flag Moi scored and completed the onside attempt, though they were unable to find the end zone to tie the game. Going into the playoff matchup, the controlled pace of Cutler will go up against the aggressive, slinging offence of Nadeau-Piuze. Flag Moi is more of an offence-focused team, but they are also in the top 3 with 14 INTs as a unit. KGP plays at a much slower pace, which helps explain why their numbers might be lower, as they run fewer plays on both sides.

Even with the slower pace, KGP under Cutler averages only 3 fewer points, and they also don’t turn the ball over as much. I’m sure Cutler will try to slow the game down, take his time with every read, and force Flag Moi to stay patient.

On the other side, don’t be surprised if Flag Moi attacks the KGP secondary early and often. Nadeau-Piuze has thrown 12 INTs this season, and if Quaysie Gordon Maule gets one, he’ll be looking to add to his all-time pick-six total.

This game should be close, just like their regular season matchup. With that being said, I think Flag Moi can hang in there, even with a possible turnover or two, to pull off a close win and move on.

Prediction: Flag Moi L’Sac def KGP Elite 44- 38

#6 Naproxen vs #3 Raw Dawgs

Previous matchup: Naproxen def Raw Dawgs 22-21

Naproxen got the better of Raw Dawgs in a close 22–21 victory that required OT at Stade Hebert. Anthony Brisebois broke the tiebreaker for Raw Dawgs, but Dimitri Sinodinos would find Oliver Joly in the back of the endzone for the win.

Going into that game, Jordan Panetta did not throw; it was Jeff Rosenblatt. For playoffs, Panetta will be expected to throw in each game, especially after his 20:2 ratio in Winter 2026.

Raw Dawgs have the names of the top FPF players, including Receiver of the Year Dan Mancini, Brisebois, and Ahmed Boubacar, who leads the team with 4 INTs on the season. Naproxen might not have the same big names, but with the production of players like William Marchand and Zachary Brassard, who were both All-Stars, having Sinodinos leading this group is the best thing that could happen.

Just because Panetta is throwing, I don’t expect this to be a blowout win for Raw Dawgs. I do think Naproxen will make this a tough game for Raw Dawgs. Naproxen have the advantage of not having any pressure, especially since they won the regular season matchup.

Raw Dawgs have the experience, and that is why I feel they will be able to claw their way to a victory. A defeat for them is not an option and will truly be a heartbreak, especially with Spring and Nationals around the corner.

Prediction: Raw Dawgs def Naproxen 33-25

#7 MTL Magic vs #2 Braves

Previous matchups: Braves def MTL Magic 34-20 & Braves def MTL Magic 38-12

These two teams met in the 5v5 Comp finals last Fall, and this matchup could not be any different. Braves finished 9–1 this season, replicating their Fall 2025 record. MTL Magic went through big roster adjustments, and it resulted in a 3–7 finish.

Dan Lazzara, a QB who knows this sport as well as anyone, finished with the 4th-best completion rate at 71%, despite a 3–7 record. Felix Boutet led the offence, which is expected, but what this roster lacked was consistency. Outside of Lazzara, no player played more than 8 games, and going into the playoffs, MTL Magic only have 5 eligible players with at least five games played.

I’m sure they will have one of their players join the team for playoffs with a medical note, but if that’s not the case, a lineup of five players, with one of them being Lazzara, will be something to watch in this one.

Braves haven’t been highlighted as much this season, probably due to their constant winning and the rise of PartyCrashers, who have former MTL Magic QB Jeanslee Alexis. Braves had one loss to PartyCrashers this season, and outside of that, they ran through the competition. They have the best offence and are neck-and-neck with PartyCrashers for the best defence.

Joe Maheu was excellent this season, and even if some of his guys might not play due to Team Canada commitments, the roster from top to bottom is better than MTL Magic. Lazzara won’t go down without a fight, but if we see a full Braves team like in Division 1, this has the potential to be a blowout win for Braves.

Prediction: Braves def MTL Magic 46-18

#8 Bleue Dry 10.1 vs #1 PartyCrashers

Previous matchup: PartyCrashers def Bleue Dry 38-20

Is it PartyCrashers’ world, and we are just living in it? Outside of a close loss to Flag Moi in Week 10, the season has been flawless. The possibility of having either Jeanslee Alexis or Emerson Peterkin at QB is a tough matchup for any defence.

Bleue Dry will look to create an upset to shake things up in 5v5 Comp. In Bleue Dry’s first season in Competitive, they have shown moments where they can hang with the best teams in this division. With that being said, they are still a new team, and it has shown that they need work to do. An example of this was in their loss to PartyCrashers in Week 9. It was an uncharacteristic game from Alexis, with 2 INTs, but the defence stood tall, picking off Fred Juneau three times. A big difference was that Mamadi Kaba scored 8 points just on conversions alone.

In the playoffs, it’s a new game. It looks like Alexis might not play QB due to an injury, as he was not playing behind center last night in other divisions. If Peterkin is in action, he has shown he’s comfortable under center in 5v5.

For PartyCrashers, they just can’t play with their food. They have had a few close calls this season and other games where they dominated from start to finish. For Bleue Dry, they would need a perfect game from Juneau, meaning no turnovers, executing on every drive, and hanging in until the end.

With how PartyCrashers have been, it’s hard to think they will keep this game close. I know Fred and company will play their hardest, and if Peterkin is at QB, I can see the game being a bit closer at the start.

Prediction: PartyCrashers def Bleue Dry 10.1 35-21
