Division 4A: Divisional Round Recap

This past Saturday, we had four matchups in the Divisional Round. Four teams moved on while the top four teams awaited their matchups. With only one upset, it appears that the best of the best in Division 4A will compete for a chance at the championship.

Before we get into the Divisional Round games, congrats to the All-Stars in Division 4A. Check out the list below:

Divisional Round Recap

The Penetrators def Are You Not Entertained 30-0

Not sure what was the reason for the forfeit win but The Penetrators move on.

Black Vipers upset Mofos 46-30

The only upset was Black Vipers defeating Mofos. Even though they were one position apart, both teams finished 5–5, but Mofos had the better point differential at +63 compared to Black Vipers’ +5.

This was clearly Mathis Coulombe’s best game this season and the second-best game of his FPF career at QB, as he finished with 301 yards and 7 TDs on a 75% completion rate. Great numbers, and he was also not sacked once nor did he throw an INT.

All-Star Gianni Casati proved to any doubters why he was an All-Star, as he finished with 134 receiving yards and 3 TDs.

Tiemoko Sagono finished with 180 yards through the air and 82 on the ground, demonstrating his dual-threat ability as a QB. He scored 4 times through the air and once on the ground. Arthur Dagenais and Julian Nelson were the main receivers, as they combined for 135 yards and 3 TDs. Sagono did throw two INTs in the first half and had two drives where he was not able to convert on 4th down, whereas Black Vipers had none. Expect the duo of Casati and Coulombe to create damage in the Quarterfinals.

Ambush end Team Ethnik’s hot streak 35-19

Team Ethnik were fighting for their playoff lives over the past month and were able to get help from some teams below them to secure the final playoff spot. Unfortunately for them, they were matched up against a healthy Ambush squad.

I’ve mentioned before that Gab Dabe Champagne is easily the best defender in 4A and arguably one of the best in all of FPF. When you have a QB in Benoit Lawlor who hasn’t had one of his best seasons, throwing 15 INTs, it’s no surprise that the recently selected 2026 Men’s National Team Selection Camp player for the IFAF Worlds made a huge impact with 3 INTs.

Gab also threw 5 TDs at QB in the win. Phil Roberts and Dante Gerardi each scored a pair of TDs. For Team Ethnik, it was a rough start, as they were down 21–6 at halftime. They were able to figure out their offence in the second half, but it was too little, too late.

Dak To The Future outlasts Rick and Marty 42-35

Another high-scoring game saw All-Star Justin Gauthier find Gabriel Morissette in the dying seconds to take a 36–35 lead. On the final play, Marty Freedman was picked off by Nathan Pronovost, who added insult to injury by housing it for a touchdown.

Gauthier had no issues throwing over the tall rusher Michael Schiller, as he finished with only 3 incompletions. Even though he was sacked 3 times, he was able to create damage on the ground, with nearly all of his rushing yards coming in the first half, along with a rushing TD. Both teams were thin in terms of roster, as Dak To The Future only had 6 players, while Rick and Marty had 7. Freedman matched Gauthier with 5 total TDs, but the two INTs that turned into pick-sixes proved costly.

It was surprising to see in the box score that Noah Groper and Brennan Burke combined for only 4 catches. They were Marty’s top receivers all season, so I wonder if Dak To The Future put extra focus on them or if there were openings elsewhere. Regardless, Dak To The Future moves on, sweeping the season series 2–0 in the process.
