5v5 Competitive: Regular Season Finale & the Move That Shook the Division — Jeanslee Alexis

Week 13 Power Rankings

1️⃣ PartyCrashers (8-1)

Week 12 ranking: -

No new changes for PartyCrashers after Week 13. To end their regular season, they face a hot KGP Elite team tonight which should be very entertaining and competitive.

2️⃣ Braves (8-1)

Week 12 ranking: -

Braves are looking stronger as each game goes by. Outside of their loss to PartyCrashers, they have won each game by +10 points. Strong wins against Raw Dawgs and Flag Moi L’Sac this past week, Braves will look to end the season hot against MTL Magic on Monday.

3️⃣ KGP Elite (5-3)

Week 12 ranking: +2

The biggest risers in this week’s rankings as KGP beat both Raw Dawgs and Flag Moi. Even though KGP had the strangest schedule with many weeks of breaks and then playing games in bunches, it has led them to a 5-3 record and a chance to finish the season 3rd in the standings. A huge game with seedings implications against PartyCrashers then closing out the season against Naproxen. KGP is heading in the right direction at the right time.

4️⃣ Flag Moi L’Sac (6-4)

Week 12 ranking: -

It was a tough way to close out the season for Flag Moi with two losses in Week 13. They sit at 6-4 and will finish either 4th or 5th in the standings. Still with one of the strongest offences, you can’t overlook Alex Nadeau-Piuze and company in the playoffs.

5️⃣ Raw Dawgs (6-4)

Week 12 ranking: -2

With three games this past week, I thought Raw Dawgs would make it competitive in the standings but they went 0-3. A loss to KGP Elite to start the week had eliminated any chances to finish in the top 2 but they would get blown out by Braves in a game where even though Jordan Panetta would move the ball with ease, would struggle with getting the ball in the endzone. In the biggest shocker, Naproxen would beat Raw Dawgs to close their season in an OT thriller. Raw Dawgs are still a great team that can cause havoc in the playoffs but an ending like this was not what they needed.

6️⃣ MTL Magic ( 3-6)

Week 12 ranking: +1

Dan Lazzara would get his get-back in the rematch over MTL Magic in a close bout. Huge games from Felix Boutet and Serge Pilon Jr. would help get the job done on offence. It might not be the season the guys expected but their performance in the playoffs is what matters. They get a rematch against the red-hot Braves to close things out and if they can pull the upset, it would be great for a huge momentum swing.

7️⃣ Naproxen (3-6)

Week 12 ranking: +1

It was a very good win for Naproxen over Raw Dawgs. The defence would pick off Jeff Rosenblatt three times and would win in OT after they would score on their 2pt convert to seal it. It has been a solid season for a new team in Competitive and with one game against KGP left, it can be a huge boost if they can re-write their Week 6 loss to them heading into the playoffs.

8️⃣ Bleue Dry 10.1 (2-7)

Week 12 ranking: -2

Blue Dry would lose a close rematch against MTL Magic 31-34. Similarly to Naproxen, Bleue Dry was a new team in this division and have shown bright spots that they can compete with a lot of these teams. I spoke with Fred Juneau after the loss and he’s very optimistic about his team in the future. More reps and learning advanced 5v5 concepts is on his radar and he believes that will only enhance Bleue Dry’s play in the coming seasons. They still face #NR to close things out before heading into the playoffs hoping to play spoiler to these top teams.

9️⃣ #NR (0-9)

Week 12 ranking: -

It all comes down to this. No need to sugarcoat how poorly the season has been for #NR but they will have a chance to end the season on a positive tonight against Bleue Dry. I spoke with veteran Ryan Perry this week and all he wants is at least one win. No matter the division, no team wants to go 0-10. I know #NR will come into this game with all they got and I believe it will work out with a very tough and competitive victory over Bleue Dry tonight.

Sit-Down with Jeanslee Alexis, the guy who shifted 5v5 Competitive this season

What led to your decision to switch from MTL Magic to PartyCrashers for this season of 5v5 Competitive?

To be honest, what pushed me to go from MTL Magic to PartyCrashers was the belief that I could lead a team to a championship. At first, I was more of a backup QB, but that’s really when I started to fall in love with the quarterback position. Having the confidence to build my own team with PartyCrashers meant a lot. A lot of people didn’t see me as a QB and underestimated me, so I wanted to send a message that I can excel at this position. Trust that.

What do you think has had the biggest impact on your team’s on-field performance during this 8–1 run so far?

In my opinion, like my brother Fritz said earlier this week, it’s all about our chemistry. We’re all on the same page and share the same goal: winning a championship. We play our best football when everyone is aligned and locked in together.

Mamadi Kaba has had no trouble translating his tackle football skills to flag. What is it about his athleticism and reliable hands that makes it easier for you as a QB to get him the ball in the right spots?

El Polooo, man… the truth is, Mamadi played with PartyCrashers at Nationals while I was with Magic. When we linked up, we immediately said we wanted to build a team together because we both know what we’re capable of. Mamadi is just HIM—great size, strong hands, and he knows how to run perfect routes to get open. All of that makes my job easier as a QB and gives me 100% confidence and trust.

You close out the regular season against KGP Elite, a team you haven’t faced yet this season. Even though you’re very mobile and good at evading rushers, how do you approach a defence with a rusher like Ethan Adrian and ball hawks such as Bakari Barrett and Quaysie Gordon-Maule?

Honestly, we’re preparing the same way we do for every game. We’re not taking them lightly. KGP has traveled a lot for tournaments, so they definitely know 5v5 football and what they’re doing. Of course, they’re going to try to give us another loss.

That being said, we’re ready for them. We know how they play. Ethan is one of the best rushers, and Bakari is one of the best DBs, so we have to respect that. But we’re ready, we’re hungry, and every team we face better come prepared. Trust.

What does your team need to do to win the 5v5 Competitive championship this season?

For me, it’s really about sticking to the plan. Staying locked in, trusting the process, and I know we’re going to be good for the championship .

You’re extremely talented on both sides of the ball, which has led to several Team Canada appearances. Can you talk about those experiences and what you’ve taken from them into your game and coaching?

Man, that experience was just incredible. Being surrounded by so many great players—especially guys I see all the time in the FPF league like Beland, Drysdale, Rocheleau—it honestly felt like a dream come true. I really enjoyed my time with the national team, and it taught me not to take anything for granted. You have to stay focused, trust the process, and always give your best. One day, it could be you on that field—you feel me? Let’s go!

You’ve been coaching at the high school and CEGEP level for a few years now. What’s been the most rewarding part of either playing with or against players you’ve coached in FPF or other tournaments?

Personally, seeing the players I’ve coached grow and develop in different flag leagues makes me really happy. It’s always a great vibe and a special moment to see them again, or even play with them when I need help on my coed team. It’s a very proud feeling.

To wrap things up, what’s something people might not know about the real Jean Jean outside of flag football?

Haha, something people don’t know about Jeanx2 I actually like reading books in my free time. Not a lot of people know that. And I’m a very sociable guy—you can talk to me about anything and we’ll have a great conversation. The real ones already know that!

Ps - Big thanks to FPF and all the organizations for everything they do for us. Much love!
