Coed 2: Close Calls and New Teams Making Noise

The Coed 2 division is officially in its wildest stretch of the season. This week’s focus shifts to the rising contenders and under-the-radar teams. Let’s dive into some game recaps and what they mean for the playoff race!
Purple Blood Puts Up a Fight Against the Unbeaten Team
Purple Blood may be near the bottom of the standings, but you wouldn’t have known it watching their game against undefeated Team Rocket. In one of the most impressive performances by a lower-ranked team this season, Purple Blood went toe-to-toe with the division’s top squad, keeping the game within reach until the very end.
Despite Team Rocket’s perfect record, they had to work for this win. Quarterback Guillaume Beland delivered his usual efficient performance, his favourite target, Nassim Ouadhi continued his dominant season with 81 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns, proving to be a difference-maker once again.
But the real story of this game was Purple Blood’s resilience. Quarterback Sanders Armand was composed under pressure, spreading the ball to multiple receivers. Defensively, they managed to slow down Team Rocket’s high-powered attack more than most teams have, forcing them into a grinding game rather than an all-out offensive showcase. Purple Blood nearly pulled off the upset of the season.
While it wasn’t enough to break Team Rocket’s unbeaten streak, Purple Blood showed they’re far from an easy out. If they can build off this momentum, they might just be a problem for teams underestimating them down the stretch.
Mean Machines Grind Out Defensive Battle vs Michael Scott’s Tots (18-12)
If you love defense, this was the game for you. Mean Machines shut down a normally potent Michael Scott’s Tots offense in a gritty 18-12 victory. Tots were again without David De Andrade, he’s now missed consecutive games. They played their last 2 games in a 4 day span so maybe he is enjoying a nice vacation rather than an injury. On the other side, for Mean Machines, Xavier Parent hauled in three interceptions, shutting down the deep ball and keeping the Tots from finding a rhythm.
Michael Scott’s Tots, who have been among the highest-scoring teams, struggled mightily as backup quarterback Evan Ely Nolet threw three interceptions. They’ll need to regroup quickly, as they’re now on a three game losing streak and another loss could push them further down the standings.
Key Stat: Xavier Parent’s three interceptions were the difference-maker, making life miserable for Michael Scott’s Tots’ offense.
Redzone’s Second-Half Explosion Powers Past Ghostbusters (48-32)
This game was a tale of two halves. Ghostbusters came out firing, putting up 26 first-half points, but Redzone answered with a monster second-half performance, outscoring them 28-6 the rest of the way.
Redzone’s offense was unstoppable, with Koralie Leduc and Éliane Martino combining for four touchdowns in a balanced attack. Meanwhile, Ghostbusters’ early momentum fizzled out, with their defense unable to slow Redzone’s offensive explosion.
Key Stat: Redzone now leads the division in total points scored (273), proving they can score at will.
Who’s Going to Carry the Boats Pulls Off a Must Win Against Flag Force One (28-24)
Who’s Going to Carry the Boats erased a deficit in the second half to stun Flag Force One. Quarterback Alexandre Szalipszki led the charge, running for 84 yards on 12 attempts and throwing four touchdowns, while Abigail Cockerton caught two of them in clutch moments. She also led the team in targets, receptions, and receiving yards.
Flag Force One controlled the game early, with Rony Ismeus making explosive plays, racking up 80 yards and two touchdowns. However, their defense faltered in crunch time, allowing Boats to march down the field late, setting up Abigail Cockerton for the game-winning 21-yard touchdown reception.
Key Stat: Who’s Going to Carry the Boats scored 22 of their 28 points in the second half, showcasing their ability to close out games.
Kamikaze Edges Out Crazy Frogs in a Nail-Biter (27-26)
Two of the most evenly matched teams went to war, with Kamikaze narrowly escaping with a 27-26 win over Crazy Frogs. Alexis Fernando had an impressive outing, completing 25 of 35 passes for 185 yards and four touchdowns, while Jean-Sebastien St-Arneault made plays on both sides of the ball with a touchdown and a sack.
For Crazy Frogs, Édouard Leroux nearly willed his team to victory, throwing for three touchdowns while adding 50 rushing yards. He also threw his first interception of the season and took his first sack—a milestone he had hoped to avoid. However, a missed convert proved costly, as Kamikaze capitalized on every opportunity.
Key Stat: Kamikaze now sits in the top five in the standings, quietly building momentum for the playoffs.
Block Party Handles The Westies (32-13) – A Statement Win
Block Party continues to grind, and their latest win over The Westies proved that. Led by quarterback Yvan Salomon’s dual-threat ability, throwing two touchdowns while rushing for 100 yards and two more scores, Block Party overwhelmed The Westies from start to finish.
Defensively, Gerry Vincent and Rayan Mezhoudi were all over the field, combining for 8 tackles and snagging three interceptions to keep The Westies from gaining any traction. Now sitting at 4-2-1, Block Party is pushing for a top-six spot, making them a legitimate postseason threat.
Key Stat: Block Party has quietly built a +40 point differential, proving they belong in the upper echelon of Coed 2.
Les Ranceurs Take Care of Business vs Chefs Bandits (32-20)
Les Ranceurs picked up a crucial victory, keeping themselves near the top of the standings with a 32-20 win over Chefs Bandits. Eric Namts was near flawless, throwing for five touchdowns and 197 yards while Giovani Antonacci torched the defense for 107 yards and three scores.
Chefs Bandits fought hard, with Marilie Vivier scoring twice, but their defense couldn’t slow down the high-flying Ranceurs attack. With this win, Les Ranceurs remain in striking distance of a top-three finish.
Key Stat: Giovani Antonacci has been one of the most consistent playmakers in the division, racking up big plays every week.
