5v5 Comp: Week 6 & Super Bowl Recap

Jalen Hurts: The Proven Winner
Jalen Hurts has firmly established himself as the second-best quarterback in the NFL, thanks to his two Super Bowl appearances and one Super Bowl win. In just a few seasons, he has led the Eagles to multiple NFC Championships and boasts a 6-3 postseason record. While other elite QBs like Burrow, Lamar, and Allen have struggled to break through, Hurts’ combination of leadership, playoff success, and dual-threat ability puts him ahead of the pack—second only to Mahomes.
In a highly anticipated rematch of Super Bowl LVII, the Philadelphia Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs with a decisive 40-22 victory in Super Bowl LIX. The Eagles’ defence was relentless, sacking quarterback Patrick Mahomes six times and forcing multiple turnovers, including a pivotal pick-six. Offensively, Jalen Hurts delivered an MVP-worthy performance, accounting for three touchdowns. This game showcased the importance of a balanced team effort, with both the offence and defence contributing significantly to the outcome. The Eagles’ ability to execute on both sides of the ball serves as a blueprint for success, not only in the NFL but also in the Competitive division.

Week 6 Recap
As we transition from the Super Bowl to our own 5v5 Competitive division, Week 6 provided its own share of excitement and noteworthy performances.
Braves Win Defensive Battle 21-20
With Daniel Lazzara absent from the Roos’ lineup but present at the game (possibly due to injury or personal reasons), all eyes were on AJ Gomes to lead the way. He stepped in as replacement and potentially faced his toughest competition yet as a quarterback. He stepped up in a big way, keeping his team in the fight against the Braves top franchise.
This was one of the lower-scoring games we’ll see, with both teams holding each other to just three touchdowns apiece. In the end, it was the Braves‘ one-point conversion that proved to be the difference.
Flag moi L’sac vs Team Quebec U18A
Although Team Quebec U18A suffered a 56-31 loss to Flag moi L’sac, putting up 31 points against the defending winter Competitive champions is a feat in itself. The offence showed impressive chemistry, with every receiver in the stat sheet recording a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Flag moi L’sac’s offence was unstoppable, led by a masterclass from Alex Nadeau-Piuze, who completed 20 of 21 passes for 360 yards and 8 touchdowns. His top target? Samuel Nadeau-Piuze, who made 8 receptions for 156 yards and 5 touchdowns, torching defenders.
Interestingly, Flag moi L’sac only recorded one interception and zero sacks on defence. Given their experience and championship pedigree, their defensive output seemed underwhelming, leaving room for improvement as they push deeper into the season.
Party Throwers Beat U18B, Kevin Leitch Shines
Party Throwers with a 40-21 victory over Team Quebec U18B, powered by Frédéric Dupuis‘ 279-yard, 6-touchdown performance. His connection with Emile Taillefer was electric, as Taillefer put up 115 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Despite the loss, U18B’s Kevin Leitch had 113 receiving yards and a touchdown. Leitch also had the highlight of the game, making a spectacular sideline touchdown catch while keeping both feet in bounds under tight coverage from a top defender in the league Mendel Joseph, who even got a hand on the ball. Plays like this show that U18B may be young, but they are capable of competing at this level as they continue to gain experience.
